I am not seeing all this 'tard rage from kiwis' that some of you wit asses are claiming. This thread is pretty calm.

I don't have much say in your politics but there's a general culture problem in the west where most of us are uneducated about economics. The everyday man can understand how the social and political work, but economy is freaking astrophysics. There's always panic whenever tax reforms happen, everywhere.

I think most of the kiwi salt is going on in the "Articles and happening" version of this thread.

I am for the bill because I own business that works internationally in the digital sphere. To do business in Canada we have to have a company there same with Bermuda and the like. This makes life less complicated. The individual mandate going away is nice but we also provide too notch benefits.

And it doesn't help that this reform (like most economic legislation) is ridiculously long, about 500 pages and full of legalese, so people are realistically only going to know what's in it from their chosen biased news source. I guarantee the people who voted on it didn't even have time to read it, and only voted based on thier party.

I would imagine the number of people that truly understand this reform is in the single-digits at this point.

Because of the internet, easy access to information, the rise of clickbait journalism, social media narcissism, and everyone's dwindling attention spans, everyone thinks they're an expert on politics and economics after reading the opening paragraphs of a couple of articles from buzzfeed/the daily beast or whatever biased news source they like most.
Add that to the fact that everyone feels obligated to be political all the time and you've got a bunch of self righteous assholes on all sides of the political spectrum sending government officials and celebrities death threats on Twitter over bills and policies that won't even noticeably impact their lives.

I don't agree with everything that's been said about the bill opinion-wise but I sure love all the differing viewpoints and opinions. Thanks guys

Please, Canada has enough problems to worry about. We don't need no stinkin' pissbabies coming in making things worse.

Canada and a lot of European countries are going to have a problem if this makes it through.

Mark my words, once the salt we're seeing now from leftist Americans dies down it will be replaced by foreigners of all stripes who are going to be ass-hurt at seeing a lot of investments/company's move to the "failing empire". These reforms will kill what little competitiveness other countries have and will be especially hard on Canada.

The US is about to become even more the center of their universe.

This, this right fucking here is why I voted for Trump. No, not the Tax Reform, but the loads and loads of salt and butthurt from Lefties. It's beautiful. The only way things could get better is if we were able to deregulate sound suppressors on firearms and reopen the registry on civilian transferable full-auto firearms.

Funny you mention that, since National Reciprocity for concealed weapons is coming up next. Assuming a mass casualty event doesn't happen like it did the last two times another pro-gun bill was set to get debated/voted on (totes not suspicious), it'll probably pass considering Donald's 2A stance.

Democrats are histrionic babies. The GOP just passed a relatively insignificant tax cut which will still leave America on the high end of taxation as far as first world nations go. The biggest thing shitlibs are whining about is a cut to corporate tax rates-- even though that's one of the things that if you have at an uncompetitive rate people just leave their money offshore and the government gets 0% of it. The other thing they are insane over is the ability to use 10 grand at 100% deduction every year to send your kid to private school, which means people don't have to send their kids to vibrant, diverse institutions anymore and can just form a local charter school and keep the education dollars in their own community and not have their sons be beaten and their daughters be turned out as whores.

Also blue states are no longer going to be able to deduct their taxes. This is basically sodomizing their economies. It is going to kick New York and California in the gut for sure, and California is basically already on the edge of insolvency. New York has enough money, they can afford to pay. For years a handful of states basically ran up huge bills and then deducted them, basically cheating the whole country on taxes. No more, now they pay the same into the federal system as all of us.

This thing basically is a middle class tax cut as it is sold. It is pretty hard on the rich-- not being able to deduct interest payments on mortgages over half a mil is a huge deal. It's going to hurt a lot of REITs that leverage debt, and anyone paying down a note on a property worth $100 million or more is going to pay millions of dollars more in taxes because of this. Similarly, most ultra rich people are in blue states like California and New York, so the ending of the state tax deduction is definitely going to specifically hurt the fantastically rich. Of course, Democrats pretend this is all about the little guy, but really the only people with net worth less than 2 million dollars that are worse off because of this bill are illegal immigrants. Sucks to be them, maybe they should go back to their own countries and vote for welfare states there?

>tfw a legit Nazi explains things better than international news organizations who call everyone that disagrees with them nazis.

I want to stay on Mr. Bones' ride.
