The lefty angle sorts makes sense, as simple people might think country music = rednecks

And I'm not sure it's a general problem with American culture so much as some recent change in American culture. Mass shootings like this didn't happen 50 years ago.

Also, we have to remember violent crime has always been higher and lower in some place in the world, regardless of the availability of guns. We don't know what all the factors are that feed into that. But my guess is it's related to population density. The closer everyone lives to one another, the more omnipresent police protection is and the harder it is to get away with crime, so people commit less of it.

50 years ago we didn't have a 24/7 media industry that covered mass shootings incessantly, turning them into weeks-long affairs of national coverage and giving fuel for the mentally ill to regard the shooter as an antihero due to the media's exploitative probing into their backstory and motivations for ratings. We didn't have a media that put every new shooting up on a scoreboard to compare with previous mass shootings - I guarantee there are media execs who were salivating to declare this latest incident the most deadly in American history in order to boost their ratings by being first to report.

Combine that lack of ethical standards and desperation for ratings with the internet and especially social media making it easier for stories to quickly gain national traction and it's no surprise well-publicized mass shootings are on the rise. Criminologists and various forensic psychologists have been more or less shouting into the void that this is an issue and that media coverage is exacerbating the issue to little effect.

“Woke” 10 year old.

There's no doubt in my mind that the number 1 reason why stuff like this keeps happening is because of the news making the people into some sort of celeb by covering it non stop nationwide

I'm not surprised, but I'm always sort of impressed about how people trip over each other giving asspats for being 'right' about a mass shooter's motivations before said shooter is even dead.

In the last 50 years we've seen the rise of radicalism in all forms of our society - from protests on through the media and the very political system we use. What's causing it is pretty hard to say, although it's very clear the effect it is having on our society is a devastating one.

>one of the worst shootings of all time
>carried out by a democrat

nothing to see here goyim keep walking

It’s a good thing that guns are legal and the those brave MAGA concert goers shot that tranny Muslim to death with absolutely zero injuries. Otherwise something bad could've happened. #KidRockforsenate. #Kidrock2024.

I fully expect people to feel the need to tote rifles in public even more now. Probably with their fucking ejection port covers open.

I can't wait until gun experts start having negligent discharges in the frozen food aisle shit will be so cash

I'm sure that plays a huge role in it...but at this point in time I don't see a way the news can report this in any other way. Not to get too off topic here, but we've seen the news in Europe, for instance, trying to downplay/omit certain things and it just backfired spectacularly every time because everyone is on the internet and you can't "localize" things anymore. Same thing goes for crazy white Americans shooting up places. The news is kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place: They can't not report it because that'll seem like they try to cover things up, but reporting it might lead to more damage and copycats.

This.

The 24 hour news cycle that started in the 90's, most notably with OJ Simpson's televised flight down an LA freeway, has created a system where bad events are blanketed all over the world to the saturation point. People absorb these events and internalize them in different ways.

The idea of doing mass shootings or acts of violence on a major scale is promoted. The people who commit them are famous and the event is exploited for every last ounce of tragedy the media can squeeze from it.

I'm not sure whether to believe that this is a politically or religiously motivated shooting at all. There's a good chance that he's an old-fashioned mentally deranged psychopath - why do all shootings these days have to be politically motivated somehow? Can't we just have people being a psychopath for the sake of being a psychopath.

The shooter's brother did mention that he had no political leanings, nor did he have social media. But that may just be him trying to save face.

This is very true. Some people really are just violently crazy. Charles Whitman, James Holmes, Charles Starkweather, Andrew Kehoe, etc just decided to kill people for no discernible reason; even the murderers themselves couldn't offer a motive.

It's a corny line, but some men really do just want to watch the world burn.

I feel like all these mass shooters are trying to get the label as "The Worst in American History™" Because when the nightclub shooting in Orlando happened that was the worst. Now this one is.

As a side note, I'm pissed the guy killed himself. I would've much preferred him to take his punishment and rot in prison for the rest of his miserable life, if he really wanted to take the lives of others.

"We've never had a Muslim shooter. It's always been white men."
How is Dobson even a real person lmfao

Also, Newsweek just put out a charming article called "White Men Have Committed More Mass Shootings than Any Other Group." It'd be like if I wrote and posted an article called "Muslims have Committed More Suicide Bombings than Any Other Group" after an ISIS suicide bombing in Baghdad or something.
