Shit, if Ofcom can do that then I should be demanding money from 4chan too. Maybe I’ll demand $100 for every time I’ve been subjected to gooner images when looking for game discussion on /v/. So if I had to ballpark it, I’ll probably be demanding about $100000000000000000.

How exactly can they even extract that from 4chan? 4Chan isnt a British business.
They can sue 4chan in US Federal court. Alternatively, they can use their demand letters as proof of amount owed, and go harass 4chan's domain hosts, and so on. Private companies can typically fuck you over without a US court order, and they do comply with foreign demands.

Would it even be possible for them to get one or would the US goverment actually resist any efforts?
US gov would not be a party to the case.

Even Mafia controlled Russia is not as aggressive fleecing American business; they are much more subtle and didn't have to intimate companies unlike current EU.
They did try that one time. Demanded more money from Google than existed on Earth. I think that was related to the war somehow, don't remember the details. Went nowhere, obviously, as Google didn't have that kind of money

Bailiffs: Called.
USA: On notice.
It's over for the USA economy. They are sending their best to collect on this.

They might be desperate enough for a win at this point to do it. The online safety act has collected very little all things considered once people realized they didn't have to pay.
they lose, and get laughed at. They win, they get their faggot asses sued off by every swinging dick lawyer looking for a payday.

Only smart move is to not play.

or they will consider "formal action to recover the full amount"
To quote a Russian anti-censorship legend Phil Kulin, "Act how? Burst into tears?"

I believe they could waive their immunity as to that one specific collection suit without compromising protections for other suits. @AnOminous is this correct?

Is it customary for a defendant to send a threatening bill to the plaintiff who is suing them without going through the court?

Well, as usual with OFCOM, they can shit in one hand, and wish for $758,223.20 in the other, and see which one fills up first.

I know which one I'd bet on.

US gov would not be a party to the case.
it wouldn't be party but it could raise a diplomatic issue with the UK government. until a dem comes along.

ofcom starting a us lawsuit would open them to 4chan and lolcow's 1A defenses and countersuits. and only those 2.

i'm trying to think what lolcow's defense and countersukt would cost and the potential fallout based on the UK's handling of the postmaster trials. the postmaster thing took years and a shit ton of money.

Funny you think they'll be sending anyone that useless. The Met will be sending their toughest officers for this one.

null better keep his windows and doors tightly closed since the slightest crack in the window or door is grounds for them to legally enter and repossess everything.

apparently the us doesnt give a fuck about interpol red notices, extradition requests still need to go through the courts and the executive branch.

i wonder what form the alternative will be. talking to private businesses to start the 2nd dropkf?
