Somewhat related to jobs, I went to a theme park recently and a large portion of the rides were shut down due to lack of staff, including some of the most popular rides. It's prime summer job season and there just aren't many people willing to work for shit pay and slave treatment.
Fixed for reality.

Without more info, I would argue its intentional. High fuel prices = lower attendance so the skeleton crew remains to avoid losses.
We're still seeing the migrant correction too. Companies can't hire at slave wage rates anymore but are still making enough money doing the bare minimum so they see no reason to change.

I'm not going to say you're wrong, but I am going to say those kind of jobs were always intended for teenagers. Lifeguarding, theme park attendants, theme park cookstaff, none of it is high skilled labor which is perfect for teens who are just starting to work and grow their skills (even if those skills are just "wake up and get to work on time, reliably")

Tell the boomer owners that.

I don't get why I'm being downvoted, nobody in NYC is white, majority of zoomers and young millenials will never be able to afford property, and rent has skyrocketed.
Rent 10 years ago was $400 for a studio and entry level wages were $11 an hour, at one point entry wages were $11 an hour and rent was 1.6k for that same apartment.
70% of apartment complexes with 25 or more units are owned by corporate entities and LLC's and nearly 60% for 5-24 units. The only place where individuals own the majority of rental properties is 2-4 unit properties. Of those small unit owners like half of them hire professional property managers to manage their property, if the pay is poor and it's super hard work how does that work exactly? Where's the overhead coming from to pay those companies?

Ignoring that rent and property prices have gone up drastically because a progressive is also whining about it on reddit doesn't make you based, it just alienates the zoomer and young millenial demographics and it passes up the opportunity to give actual solutions.
If you ignore a problem but the opposition doesn't, even if their solution is garbage some people may go "well atleast they're talking about it," thats the problem. There is a reason communism is again on the rise and thats part of it. They use the problems which one side isn't willing to address and sell a solution (like rent control) that only serves to further themselves rather than offer actual help.
Because communism is nevre the fucking answer. Do you think the rest of the country also hasn't seen rises in property prices? New York is being a bunch of pussies. Landlords suck, this is life. They also provide a service. You aren't meant to stay a rentoid for life. You're supposed to eventually move the fuck on and get your own place and become a LandChad yourself, with Blackjack and Hookers. That is the solution.

You can't even knock out a wall in your own place in NYC, let alone somewhere you're renting. Watch some of Louis Rossman's old blogs where he was trying to renovate his commercial space, doing anything is an unending nightmare. Only licensed contractors can do that kind of work and they don't give a shit about anything, they'll take your money, do a godawful job, and you can't even fix their fuckups yourself
Trying to minimize power leveling here, but most of those contractors are also moonlighting as garbage men or some other city job, so they're doing that too and they half ass both. I have heard, but no firsthand confirmation, that timecard fraud is pretty rampant in those city jobs.

So after paying out the ass for someone to redo the floor in your kitchen or whatever, which takes forever because they have that they're half-assing both their jobs, and oh what do you know, their girlfriend's ex-husband's kid needs to be picked up from basketball practice so they can't show up this week, they'll keep bugging you for more "work." Happened to a relative. Many times.

like all teenager jobs, they've been replaced with visa workers. all those kind of summer jobs around here have been replaced with J-1 visa workers from african and south american countries

boomers would rather have rides be closed down or dangerously run by third worlders than pay a white teenager a single cent

Boomers will tell you those jobs were never meant to pay your rent then talk about how they afforded a house, car, college, and nights out at a bar while working pizza delivery as a young adult.

Landlords are largely scum but the problem is that most of them have obtained their wealth legitimately and the only way to destroy their power is Communism which is a far worse alternative.
There are alternatives, for example along vaguely Georgist lines. (This is just an outline, not a policy recommendation.) You can pay everyone the fair market price of their property and switch to government leases instead. It doesn't deprive anyone of their wealth. You have to work out who is responsible for increasing or maintaining the value of real estate by construction and maintenance, and you need an allocation scheme (but that doesn't need to be substantially different from how people pay rent now). The largest issue is that unless there are restrictions on subleasing, the whole existing real estate market, landlords and all could re-create itself inside the new system.

The whole fucking economy post 2008 has been just finding ways to convert borrowed money to real money.
Honestly I don't even give a shit I'm just pissed off I missed out lol

I disagree. Are these places that have these jobs (lifeguards/theme park staff/etc) only open 3 PM->9 PM so they can go to school excluding summer vacation? Obviously they're seasonal so you don't see lifeguards in winter but its not quite that simple methinks

I think there's a good chance a lot of Americans are falling out of love with theme parks in general. Why am I going to pay hundreds of dollars on admission and overpriced food to take my children to a theme park just to wait in long lines in the heat while also rolling the dice on them getting traumatized by the usual suspects instigating some sort of brawl? The last time I went to a theme park, it was a literal zoo with of out-of-control "youth". This was years ago, but I've seen enough viral videos since to know that this was not an isolated incident. It's sad, because I have good memories going to theme parks as a kid, but the world is different now.
