I see commercials for Bricks & Minifigs all the time (at least, on the rare occasion that I turn on my TV), so every time I saw this thread title, I kept thinking I was losing my mind. Turns out it's a franchise with a bunch of stores across a bunch of states, but it also turns out that the specific store in question is semi-local to me, lmao.

Over the past several months, many in our community have seen posts and videos regarding a dispute involving the former Bricks & Minifigs® location in Salem, Oregon. We understand the frustration and passion behind these discussions. Bricks & Minifigs is built on a community of collectors and families who care deeply about fairness, and that is a value we share.

To be absolutely clear: Bricks & Minifigs does not condone, tolerate, or participate in the exploitation of anyone, especially older adults or vulnerable members of our community. When a complex business dispute is reduced to edited social media clips, critical facts are often lost. While we will not litigate this online, we want to clarify the core situation.

The Reality of the Consignment Claim​

Much of the online narrative centers on a private consignment arrangement allegedly made at the former Salem store. It is vital to understand that Bricks & Minifigs Corporate (BAM Franchising, Inc.) was not a party to this alleged agreement, nor were subsequent franchisees who took on the ownership of the Salem location.

Corporate did not sign, approve, or authorize this arrangement. In fact, such consignment deals are expressly prohibited under our franchise agreements to protect both the brand and the community.

Franchisees operate independent businesses. While they must follow system standards, the franchisor does not automatically inherit responsibility for private, unauthorized agreements a local owner may enter into.

Our current network of BAM stores consists entirely of independent, local small business owners who had absolutely nothing to do with this situation.

Seeking Facts Over Narratives​

Serious claims require serious evidence. We have repeatedly asked for the original documents and undoctored recordings that support these accusations. Selective social media posts and investigative-style videos are not a substitute for the complete records and legal agreements that govern the rights of all involved parties.

If a legitimate claim exists, there are established legal and dispute-resolution processes to handle it fairly. Attempting to force a business outcome through public pressure, especially on unrelated stores and employees, is not a productive or fair path forward.

Protecting Our Stores and Staff​

Our local franchise owners and their employees—many of whom are young people starting their first jobs—should not be targets of harassment for a dispute they did not create. We have seen a troubling rise in:

• Unauthorized filming and manufactured confrontations inside private stores.
• Direct threats and doxxing of local staff and their families.
• The disruption of the shopping experience for families and children.

Bricks & Minifigs stores are private businesses with a right to protect their premises. We will continue to support our owners in prohibiting disruptive conduct or harassment. This is not about silencing criticism; it is about ensuring a safe environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

Moving Forward Together​

Our position remains simple: Bricks & Minifigs Corporate was not a party to the unauthorized Salem consignment agreement. Any legitimate claims should be resolved through the proper legal channels, where facts can be evaluated fairly.

So for some reason, a YouTube feature messed up and blurred a big portion of the hour and a half lego video I just put out. I've been talking to support for the last 4 hours and there's nothing I can do unless get access to a YouTube rep.

Also Bricks and Minifigs is doing whatever they can to take my video down and they might be able to get it down in the next day or so unless I get a YouTube rep to help me out.
The only problem is I'm not big enough of a YouTuber to have access to a YouTube rep. I'm going to make a video about it tomorrow explaining everything on my 2nd channel, but I really don't know what to do right now.

If anyone has access to a YouTube rep, that would be sick. otherwise the only thing I can think of is commenting on big streamers or something to have them help out if they're down to support a smaller creator. But I'm open to any ideas!

Yeah I just finished the video(s) from Moist discussing it and holy fuck man. This is why I always sideways glance at these types of stores because you know, for sure, if you try to sell them worth an actual pretty penny they either pawnshop you ("Nice, this looks like a $30,000 item... I'll give you $5 and a pack of gum.") or they try to fuck you over in some weird way.

With the way they've acted throughout this I feel they definitely knew about the consignment, sold a bunch of the models and have shipped them all over the place so now don't want to give them back at all, plus it's likely a hugely demanded set they're getting great business from, they don't wanna pay because they can use the whole "Well, erm, actually we don't do that" as a stave-off loophole and fuck over some people who can't actually afford to take them to court. They've basically done everything to give these people the fuck around so it screams fuckery.

Dude, it's not a cop issue.

It IS a civil litigation issue as comes down to consignment, contracts and what is considered "Theft" in this situation, It doesn't matter what you brought to the cops they aren't touching this shit as it's something you have to drag through court which is why the dickhead managers/owners were acting cocky about it, they 100% know cops won't get involved, they know the people involved DO NOT have the kind of money to contest this and even if they take it to a large claims court (Which is what they expected, due to the $200,000 amount) they can just mire them down in court costs until they give up or take some petty settlement (Like $10,000 or something). Modern corpos don't pay off cops, they abuse the court system to fuck the little man over.

As a side note because this is important and where people are getting confused, especially with the coverage around this (As Moist does a good job of butchering it), a business can provide a trespass order and have the cops deliver it without providing a single reason as to why. It's a private business and they can turn anyone away, obviously there's a small myriad of reasons they cannot (Racism usually) but much like the UK, if I own a pub and you come in I can immediately bar you just because I don't like your shirt, or your hair, or that you smell, but I don't have to report that reason unless you decide to try and bring a civil dispute about it saying "It's because of racism" (Or the other forms of ism which are against a 'protected characteristic').
Now, the thing is this provides this idea that the cops are TOTALLY pulling the trespass notice because the corpos paid them to.. When no. It's literally as simple as they likely didn't provide a reason and just said "Trespass these guys" and cops will do so. The cops won't arbitrate why it was given because that is, again, a civil court matter, not a matter for them to deal with, they're just simply there to enforce the order until it's rescinded by the business or the courts.

Legit what are the cops supposed to do? It is a civil matter between at least three parties (original set owners, old store owners, and the toy store's HQ) involving several contracts (like what was the contracts between the old owners and HQ say?) that needs to be untangled in court. They can't exactly just take some random youtubers word that they violated the contract and start confiscating shit. It also doesn't help that the whole department is getting fed up with Ben waging total retard war against the store and constantly getting them dragged into it. There doesn't need to be a deep conspiracy, that alone will get the cops to always be against you.

It sucks that the dude lost the sets because of corpo shenanigans, but he should have just milked the sob story and fundraise for a lawsuit.

I get the feeling with how they've acted and how sneaky they keep trying to be they'd of done everything to kill a fundraiser. While I am dubious right now as to whether Ben was the right choice (Like, if it gets the right result then good, if it doesn't then yeah, retarded) I also just feel this company has been such a bad actor you really are left with VERY little to do in terms of action.

Plus realistically, fundraising the amount needed to put a corporation like this willing to stretch past what the sets were worth for someone with 0 visibility online is... difficult at best. I'd be amazed if they got enough just to have a chat with a lawyer.

Police allegedly threw the video maker in jail for continuing to report on this, plus the apparent connects with the local Salem Mormon church, and the CEO being a mormon. Even if it's not outright bribery, the cops are in cahoots with the company.
