Colors aren't bad but I feel like she could have done more with the American flag smoke wisps in the blue mirrored image. It should have been as large as the flourish of sheet music, which would in turn make the composition more solid in the finished piece.
Currently it feels more like she's floating the idea of it even being present/leaving the space empty and incomplete. Maybe a hard, straight line of bullet trajectory might work there too and could stretch to the opposite side. Also some dark blue in the top happier image's background to tie them together more cohesively. The bullet's lines could be in that yellow for sharp jarring contrast to the red white and blue.
Even after months none of the mistakes have been fixed. Overall this piece just feels empty and something you quickly do minutes before the deadline. Just soulless.

Concept wise, it could be very nice if pulled off correctly by someone who isn't Autumn. Since it's her art it just looks like abysmal dogshit, Expecially after the race bullshit she just crashed out over.
Small nitpick; it would've worked better if the poses were the same or better connected to eachother. Seeing the similarities and showing how joy and pain can easily connect would better show off the message that's trying to be conveyed.

YES FUCKING FINALLY. I was waiting for this one and was worried she had given up on it! It's giving the same vibes as this infamous piece: Whang has a whole video on this commission, the guy who commissioned it, etc for context. The artist was just making a buck.

I don't understand why and how she made every character look like they've been through a "free transformation + skew" tool. It's actually shocking how you can fumble this funnily on such a "serious" piece.
As you guys pointed out, the piece is incredibly empty. SOMETHING other than screentones for the background would've work, but it's not like she cares.
The composition is poor and I feel like she didn't use any reference for it, not because she is confident, but because she don't give a shit. Character placement on the canvas is something she usually does half-decently (because she does it the same as other artists do), yet after all the years of drawing she doesn't care that you shouldn't crop your characters limbs the way she always does.
I feel like she wanted to mirror the composition on top and botton half of the picture when she got the idea but either forgot or gave up because she doesn't want to put that much attention to non-sexy art.
Does it ever occur to Pup how dissonant it feels to go from "I want to be taken seriously along with my struggles as a black artist. I want people to actually engage instead of just being into furry titty art" to this? Like do you want people to hear you or fuck you? Is it your daily black struggles?

You know, all the figures look like a more or less parallel of each other except this one on the end. Is this suggesting that the little boy has to troon out to be happy? That sounds about right, she just couldn't restrain herself from putting a gunt and tits in there somewhere.
Smoke/mist/water/clouds are all considered a gift to illustrators because they can be used as a super cheatsheet way to guide the eye through a composition. They can be any shape, size, color, proportion, directional movement, etc that your illustration needs.
Not only did it take me embarassingly long to even realize this was supposed to BE smoke (seriously, has she never seen a cigarette bef-- actually this explains a lot), I'm still 50/t0 on whether or not that's supposed to be football goalposts. Hell yeah America.
