Seems the redistricting effort in SC has hit a snag. (Disregard the hyperbolic headline, the article itself shows it's inaccurate.) There were 9 state senators opposed to the 7-0 map, including Republican State Senate majority leader Shane Massey, however being bombarded with angry calls has gotten 4 out of the 9 to change their minds. It appears they still need a few more to crack. The example set in Indiana ought to be a sharp lesson for these guys.

A special session of the legislature may also be called and even though Governor Henry McMaster has proven reluctant to do so, there are some budget/procedural problems that could force him to do so.

🚨South Carolina Redistricting is NOT dead even if Massey & cronies win this vote.

Here’s the next play—
If the senate blocks Redistricting Resolution it goes back to the SC House.

The House can simply nonconcur to Senate changes and refuse to pass a Sine Die Resolution (the resolution that calls them back for a special session).

This would allow the Governor to call a Special Session.

At that special session, Redistricting can pass by a simply majority instead of a 2/3rds vote.

You may say—but the Governor said he won’t call one!
True.
But likely his tune will change.

And even if
@henrymcmaster
doesn’t, the state budget still hasn’t been passed…
Hypothetically if the House doesn’t pass a final version of the budget by 5pm Thursday (adjournment/end of session), then the Governor MUST call them back for a Special Session.

The best part—the Governor can’t limit what the Legislature takes up at a Special Session. Redistricting WILL be on the table.

The question is do House Republicans have the fortitude to play hardball?

Will they defend the Constitution?

(Though I will say, unlike the Indiana Republifags who refused to redistrict because 'muh principles' and 'Trump called people retards and what would my downie kid think of that?!', the SC Republicans in opposition do seem to have an actually somewhat valid reason to oppose redistricting - Massey cited concerns that the 7-0 map could turn into a 5-2 in a bad year due to how it dilutes some previously Safe R seats with Clyburn voters. I still think that's an acceptable tradeoff for the 7-0 whole hog but it's -worthy at least)

I don't think there would be much displeasure with the country at large if everyone born in New Jersey was denaturalized.

Jersey Shore (TV Show)
The accent alone is torture.

And I visited NJ like 10 years ago to go to Carlo's Bakery (from the Cake Boss show, Mrs Sword was obsessed and we took a fun impromptu road trip) and when we crossed over the bridge from NY to NJ, the smell of raw sewage was everywhere.

I always thought the hate for NJ was just a meme, but I kind of get it now.

I truly cant understand how TODAYS black music and style has become so popular amongst non-blacks
Bold/Underlined portion is more in line with how I feel. Back then black music wasn't the noise vomit that appears today on the radio. My tastes in music goes as far back as the 70s and Black music from them to now is an interesting case study in not just the "evolution" (more like de-evolution) of their music but a good look into their culture as well.

70's not only had them doing disco tracks, but they also had a lot of funk and soul stuff as well. While some of it was about sex and drugs, it only made up a small portion, with a good majority or them (mostly in the disco section) being positive and uplifting. Although even back then black people were having their own issues with relationships because apparently the cheating and love affairs were running rapid. Female artists especially had lyrics talking about either "I've been a bad woman, but this time will be different and I'll change for the better" or "I don't need no man, I can go on my own and do my own thing".

80's is where they started to kinda get their shit together and actually have some fun. New Jack Swing was all the rage, and a good chunk of good black music came from that music style. But it wasn't until the 90's where they peaked with the Dance/House genre, and a lot of that stuff had lyrics about feeling good, keep on going, doing what you want/need to do, be yourself, achieve your goal in life, etc. The way those songs were created using samples of past stuff to create something new and unique while not outright plagiarizing was an art to behold. Not to mention the rapping in those dance songs were corny, yet creative (especially with the innuendos).

There's a family guy joke where Peter talks about 80's black guys vs 90's black guys, and as stupid as it is, it's also strangely accurate. Because while you had the fun ones, you also had the "thug life" "gangsta" "hardcore" black guys that were all like "fuck da police" "I grew up in the ghetto, i had a hard life" "Shit sucks, yo! Blat Blat Pow, fuck yea drugs, bitches and hoes!". I have no fucking idea how or why that shit got any traction (maybe there's a political reason I'm not thinking of), but the strangest thing is that white kids started gravitating towards that, and not just the "white trash" white either, but the rich middle-class ones. I remember being in middle school, an ALL WHITE middle school, and a fuck-ton of them were singing the thong song... in school.... out in the hallways. And playing it like it was no big deal. Meanwhile I'm looking at all of them going "what the fuck is wrong with you?" Before all of that, anytime I heard a white guy blasting music in their car, it was always some rock and/or heavy metal song, and that was fine and normal to me. Fast forward to today and it's like every white person is trying their fucking hardest to be black with the music they play. A few weeks ago I literally heard a black song that had lyrics in the vein of "LET ME LICK THAT PUSSY LELELELELEL!". And no one bats a fucking eye. And don't even get me started on the sampling, because it's borderline plagiarism. "Hey, let's use this song, add current year drums, and just change the lyrics and call it an original work!". It's just like tv and video games, there is nothing iconic that is original anymore it's all just recycled shit under a different name or "re-imagined".

Never underestimate the teenager's propensity to engage in whatever behavior will most annoy their parents, teachers, or other adults in the vicinity.
