For context, even if this is $13.1 million (which lines up with just doing a rush job), it cost Obummer $34 million in 2012 (49 million in today's money) to break the pool with the algae fag stuff, and Joepedo had bids of $133 million to fix it during his term.

The Supreme Court can render that unconstitutional here and probably will.

Well I kinda hope it passes.

The new law would make any judge over 52 years old have to retired. You wanna take a guess at how many judges in Virginia would be over that age?

A lot. Like most.

Imagine the fallout from forcing almost every judge in the state to retire all at once. Do these morons even bother to think anything thru more then; 'I want it and I want it now so do it!"?

But I agree, if they tailored it so only the SCV judges would have to retire then it would be cut down. If they legally pass the law via the standard approved method, remember they have a majority and the governorship, and apply it unilaterally?

I'm not so sure. Changing the age of retirement is within the power and scope of a state's House and if they passed it legit then I don't think any court could knock it down.

There’s that turning an L into a fiasco.

Nothing can even begin to get fixed until we have term limits for elected officials and age limits for the appointed ones.

Don't fall into the trap the Dems have where they must automatically oppose everything Trump does because Trump - even if it's a good idea.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you here. 65-70 as a mandatory retirement age for government officials is an idea I support. It’s just being done out of spite for the VA gerrymandering block without thinking here.

Also just for fun; the Democrats in Virginia are now looking at passing a law to forced all the judges on the Virginia supreme court to retire. They are going to do this by passing a new law setting a new reduced mandatory retirement age and why wouldja look at that all the judges that didn't agree with the gerrymandered map are over that age! What a coincidence!

Virginia Democrats are looking for a way to overturn the state Supreme Court’s Friday decision invalidating the constitutional amendment temporarily adopting new congressional districts that a majority of voters ratified last month. They have a simple—and lawful—solution: Send the entire court into early retirement.
Article VI, Section 9, of the Virginia Constitution gives the legislature unlimited authority to set the retirement age for judges. It specifies, “The General Assembly may also provide for the mandatory retirement of justices and judges after they reach a prescribed age, beyond which they shall not serve, regardless of the term to which elected or appointed.”
Current law sets the mandatory retirement age at 73: “Any member who attains 73 years of age shall be retired 20 days after the convening of the next regular session of the General Assembly following his seventy-third birthday.”
The Virginia Constitution ordinarily requires a little bit of time for laws to come into effect. However, appropriations bills aren’t subject to these restrictions, and the legislature hasn’t yet passed its biannual budget bill. A modification of the judicial retirement age could be added to the next budget, which is due by June 30, and would come into effect upon passage.
Then, after the bill is approved, the entire court would retire. A new court would then be appointed that could re-hear the case and have the opportunity to issue a different ruling.

They can do it too. Thanks to the morons in Virginia who gave the Democrats total control of the state. People have to wake up and see that the Democrats don't give a shit about ANYTHING other then staying in power. Rights? Freedoms? The Constitution? Settle Law? All gobbledygook! If it gets in the way it's gone! And if it doesn't get in the way? Oh then it's sanctified law that should never, ever, ever be altered under any circumstances at all.

Hypocrisy they name is Democrat.
The Democratic State Senate leader has already said no to this plan. (Archive) Another wildly :optimistic: , overreaching swing & a miss by the Virginia Democrats...

Surovell, the top Democrat in the state Senate, told Virginia Scope Monday morning that these drastic measures will not be taken.

Surovell said that the time restrictions at the Department of Elections make the notion impractical.

He also said forcing the retirement of Supreme Court justices would be extreme, and he wants to work within the existing legal system when fighting against Republicans.

Speaker of the House Don Scott, D-Portsmouth, has not responded to a request for comment.

The Democrats also would've had to ram through whatever ratshit insane plan they were thinking of to salvage their situation by 11:59 PM EST tonight, since any changes to district maps must be made by tomorrow or else the state department of elections wouldn't have enough time to get ready for the midterms.

The DNC is having a hell of a rough quarter for fundraising.

As of May 1st 2025 the DNC is 15 million dollars in the red after big spends in Virginia, New York and Texas.

https://ballotpedia.org/Party_committee_fundraising,_2025-2026

And it looks like donations to the DNC are practically non-existent. Having only recorded a mere 570K in donations over March/April. Moral has crashed in the Democrat party as it looks like most big name big cash donor are holding back on the idea that the mid-term are indeed a lost cause and any funds should be saved for a more hopeful election in 2028.
It really didn't help that they went full mask off communist and outright demonstrated they wanted to take all of the money from the rich - who so happens to be their biggest donors.

>openly embrace antisemitism as a party platform
>donations dry up
Really makes you think…

investigation on Mills continues

House Ethics Committee provides update on Cory Mills probe

The Investigative Subcommittee that is handling the investigation said it has authorized more than 20 subpoenas, collected thousands of documents, and contacted dozens of witnesses for the probe so far.

The House Ethics Committee shared an update Monday on its investigation into Florida GOP Rep. Cory Mills, who is being investigated for several charges, including threatening to release a former girlfriend’s nude videos.

The committee began the probe last year, which is investigating allegations that Mills misrepresented his military service, engaged in sexual misconduct, committed campaign finance violations, and he is also accused of illicit involvement in federal contracts as a member of Congress, among others.

The Investigative Subcommittee that is handling the investigation said it has authorized more than 20 subpoenas, collected thousands of documents, and contacted dozens of witnesses for the probe.

"The ISC expects to receive additional relevant documents and testimony in the coming weeks and will take all necessary steps to conduct a full and thorough investigation," the subcommittee said.

The subcommittee's probe also focuses on an incident last year when the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report that Mills had assaulted a woman with whom he was in a relationship. No charges were ever brought, and the woman has denied that the Republican physically harmed her.

The probe also centered on a restraining order that a Florida judge issued against Mills after a former girlfriend accused him of threatening to release her explicit videos.

"The Committee takes these and the other allegations very seriously and will continue to review them in a manner that ensures due process and prioritizes witness confidentiality and safety," the subcommittee said. "The Committee will publicly release its findings in accordance with the procedural rules of the Committee and the House."

Mills has denied all allegations.

Hot Wheels has his boy Rolling On Netflix

Attorney General Ken Paxton Sues Netflix for Spying on Texas Kids and Consumers by Illegally Collecting Users’ Data Without Their Knowledge or Consent

Attorney General Ken Paxton sued Netflix for spying on Texans, including children, and collecting users’ data without their knowledge or consent.

For years, Netflix represented to consumers that it did not collect or share extensive user data. In reality, Netflix is a logging company that records and monetizes billions of behavioral events—and occasionally streams movies. Netflix uses intentional engineering to track and log users’ viewing habits, preferences, devices, household networks, application usage, and other sensitive behavioral data. Every interaction on the platform became a data point revealing information about the user. This tracking applied to not only adults’ accounts, but also kids’ profiles.

Netflix has then disclosed this information to commercial data brokers and advertising technology companies, where it was combined with data collected from other platforms to build detailed consumer profiles. Netflix users’ data is essentially shopped across Big Ad Tech’s shadowy network. The company earns billions of dollars every year from secretly selling consumer data.

The company also designs its platform to be addictive. This is accomplished using features that are designed to manipulate users to take actions Netflix wants them to take. For example, the autoplay function creates a continuous stream of content intended to keep users, including children, watching for extended periods of time.

“Netflix has built a surveillance program designed to illegally collect and profit from Texans’ personal data without their consent, and my office will do everything in our power to stop it,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Netflix is not the ad-free and kid-friendly platform it claims to be. Instead, it has misled consumers while exploiting their private data to make billions. I will continue to work to protect Texas families from deceptive practices by Big Tech companies and ensure that corporations are held accountable under Texas law.”

Attorney General Paxton is seeking to hold Netflix accountable under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (“DTPA”). The lawsuit seeks to stop the unlawful collection and disclosure of user data, require Netflix to disable autoplay by default on kid’s profiles, and secure other injunctive relief and civil penalties. I view that the same way as when the Republicans added all the non-budgetary shit in the budgetary reconciliation that was the Big Beautiful Bill; scummy but legal.

Though this is a step further as it is retaliation for a judicial decision that did not go in their favor mainly due to a fucking time limit. The government of Virginia can propose the same redistricting in 2027. Even if the US Congress becomes all Republican, they can’t do shit for a state level decision.

What would be funny is if such retaliation pisses off Virginians that they end up electing a Republican governor again.
