Honestly, the only bit of salt that seems justified is that genderspecial talking about how this affects Romana.

Which, mind you, is a character that hasn't appeared since the 80s.

Making the Doctor the last Gallifreyan was a mistake.

(Incidentally, this will make the multiple doctor crossover episode extra hilarious, especially since 11 made the joke about Amy flirting with herself. "I feel like a great big hypocrite now.")
They could bring her back, Gallifrey was resurrected in Tennant's era, and it'd be good to see an evil time lord that isn't the Master again.

Romana was a companion of the Fourth Doctor, you're thinking of The Rani.

And since the show just had a genderbent Master in the form of Missy, I think it's unlikely that she will be coming back any time soon.

Dave Cullen / Computing Forever spent the first ten minutes of this week's Regressive News talking about Jodie Whittaker's casting, citing the Ian Miles Cheong article about Anita Sarkeesian.

Bonus Season 9 salt from November 2016.

Apparently youtube is now removing dislikes and deleting negative comments from the announcement videos like they did with the #proudtobe video. Sad!

All this about a show that posited the moon was an egg that hatched a dragon

At least when FF14 did it they were making an entirely new game and using Bahamut hatching out of the moon as a reason to blow everything up and start over.

If the moon's gonna hatch a goddamn dragon, make it awesome, bitch.

Some of these comments about the people that don't want a female doctor give people like MovieBob a run for his money when it comes to unnecessary degradation of people with differing viewpoints.

these people always flip flop between trolls being "pathetic basement dwellers" and "the ultimate deadly misogynist force that will kill all women and shows the internet is sexist."

So it's going to end with people being butthurt that the new doctor is a white male or people being butthurt that the new doctor is going to be some ethnic minority or a female.

Either way given the show's track record, perhaps this could be what finally kills off Doctor Who.
