It would essentially be over. Those tracker boats they are using won't be able to function safely without those Islands. It will also be more difficult for Iran to even know ships are transiting the strait, because Qeshm and Lanark are the only places Iran controls where they can have visual over to the far side in Oman. Taking control of Qeshm Island would be a real bitch. Its fairly large and has 100k civilians living on it. That is probably the reason for the extended delay. The Generals and Admirals got the mission brief and basically told Trump if he wants to do it, they are going to need more forces.
