Dinosaur autism, if we all pool together our love for them they may just live again - Just get on the floor, the raptor has already opened the door

Dilophosaurus, Cryolophosaurus, Monolophosaurus and Ceratosaurus are the four great crested kings of the jurassic. Each one with a very different head crest.
Along with Carnotaurus, I always thought Ceratosaurus was one of the coolest-looking theropods just because of the crest/horns.

It was also an underdog living alongside and competing with bigger predators such as Allosaurus and Torvosaurus.

This game was the shit. I still vividly remember the glitch where with the last dinosaur you unlock you could go on land, run into a tree, then start swim/flying through the air. It was awesome.

Edit: technically not dinosaurs I don’t think bc sea creatures and also wrong time period(s)(?) but who cares about that shit AWESOME LIZARDS AAAAAAAA

Ostatnio edytowane:
While in Colorado (near Golden) we saw incredible fossilized footprints on what was a sandy beach from the Jurassic period, about a mile away we saw fossilized footprints of a Tyrannosaur and triceratops from the late Cretaceous. It was so incredible to think that when the Tyrannosaur and triceratops made those prints, the beach prints nearby were already millions of years old to them at the time.

The pinnacle of prehistory autism in gaming. I spent so much time playing this as a kid and obsessing over the weird creatures. The best part is the names are absolutely mangled gibberish, so unless you already know what you're looking at, good luck looking it up!

It also has a prequel game on some Japanese computer system I've never heard of, which I didn't play but find fascinating to watch videos of.

Amusing video about the series:

There's also a PC-98 version that's quite different. Since it's Japan-only, you need a translation patch to fully enjoy it unless you can read moonrunes.
Don't worry, this isn't one of those PC-98 games. If you don't know what that means, good.

Since we're talking about games involving dinosaurs, I wish I still owned this one.

I owned it as a kid.
Love the fact they used the Mr. DNA molecules in the box art.

I played this as a kid:

Never really understood why the JP security personnel would be fighting against Dr. Alan Grant in his playthrough, seems like they'd be on the same side. Do appreciate they included the aviary dome from the novel, though.

I don't care if this was already posted before, I still wanna call him a faggot. Like, I agree to a point, but he's genuinely such a faggot that I have to disagree with him on principle.

As another user has pointed out, a new spinosaurus species was described. It is called Spinosaurus mirabilis

It was first discovered in 2019 and finally been described as its own distinct species. You would not mix it up with S. aegyptiacus, given the crest it had, but it is noticeably smaller.

Another cool thing is that, in the same formation they found cranial and postcranial material of Carcharodontosaurus, which as some of you may know, lived alongside spino

It is yet to be described however, but we might be in a very productive time in paleontology in 2026

[]Carnivore[/]https://youtube.com/watch?v=RBSoeDQR6JwNow this one is a little niche. It's a tabletop skirmish game where you can play with scientifically accurate dinosaurs miniatures not unlike Warhammer. The minis look great, and they seemed to have released another game before, so it looks promising. They have opened a gamefound campaign but haven't opened themselves for donations just yet.
As a warhammer and dinosaur fan, I'd love to paint my own dinosaur with my own custom scheme and play with it on the table against my friends. If there's a drawback is that you probably need friends, but other than that I'm excited and I'll definitely be backing it.
As a little follow-up to this post I made about media, CARNIVORE is out now. I'll spare you the details as not to derail the thread, but basically if you found the game appealing, you can see my posts about it here and here.

Just as I was ready to head to bed, yet another paleo doc has been announced, this time by netflix:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=y4ZBSzYUTL0It seems promising, I like that it actually takes you through different periods of the mesozoic unlike Prehistoric Planet, though I do have my reservations with Netflix with how bad Life on our Planet was, and it seemed that they gave allosaurus osteoderms for some reason???
I'll keep an eye on it
As yet another followup, The Dinosaurs is out now on netflix. Or on TheFlixer if you are a pirate like myself

Watched all four episodes, one of the best pieces of paleomedia in modern time. I just wish the segment on Hateg Island was a little bit longer with admittedly more bloodshed, it was one of the most brutal areas on Earth during the age of the dinosaurs after all.

Im nearly through the series now, I think its pretty good, pretty surface level though. Hopefully if it continues they will get in more detail. Its always so strange to me to imagine dinosaurs in the snow as we were ingrained for long as thinking of them as "reptiles".

Its always a fascination to me imagining how long the asteroid was on its way with the fate of the Earth set. Ive also seen some good videos showing how long it would have been visible in the night sky approaching as the creatures on Earth were oblivious and had no idea.
