1. Is Iran capable of pushing the US out of the strait permanately? What would that look like?
2. If the US fails, their perceived power may not be perceived anymore. Would this create power grab attempts from other countries? What would that look like? Who and where come to mind?

1. Not at all. The actual risk/loss condition is that no matter what we do Iran will keep the strait defacto closed because of the risk they sink whatever ship is trying to sail through. Iran is very mountainous and killing sand niggers with shitty, but capable enough missiles/drones in the mountains is notoriously difficult.

2. If the above fails, maybe? I don't think anyone, especially the pundits, know what's going to happen next if Trump refuses to play by the pre-established rules of war and diplomacy as he so often does.
