In general I don't think the thought process that the marines are going to take and hold Kharg is a very well thought out one.

For starters to get to the island to try and take it we'd have to just sail our naval vessals through the straight, something I don't think they are likely to do and risk damage to the ships passing through before the straight is secure.

And for second I just think it would be an overly risky move to station a couple thousand troops to sit on the island as sitting ducks for Iran to start firing missiles and drones at.

Some of us who are regulars in gen chat are looking to start doing some DCS multiplayer starting in a couple weeks.

If anyone is interested you can sound off here and we'll keep you in the loop as the time comes closer.

We'll probably just start with the free Su-25T doing surface attack training and possibly some light dogfighting so some of the new people get to try it out without a huge financial investment. If anyone already has other modules they prefer, they're more than free to bring them though.

there's also just the fact that even if it is confirmed true and not namelessly sourced.

saying "the pentagon has detailed plans for X" doesn't actually indicate it's likely to happen. The pentagon has plans for fucking everything, they have people in place who's job it is to draft of plans for every possible contingency, we likely have plans on file for what it would take if we ever needed to invade every ally we have on the globe, it doesn't mean we're going to do it.

Planners plan, it's what we pay them to do.
