B-52s haven't been equipped with the nuclear gravity bombs that require close approach in nearly 20 years. In a nuclear scenario, their job is to get within like 1500 miles of their targets and then spam nuclear cruise missiles which deal with the majority of enemy air defenses on their own. In Iran, they started off in a similar standoff cruise missile role, although with conventional warheads.

However, the goal now is to get them operating as bomb trucks for JDAMs (cheap gravity bombs with guidance kits attached). To be successful in this role, they need to be orbiting much closer to targets to be effective, and therefore need complete air superiority to be safe.
 
Soleimani and Larijani both being killed would be a pretty big push back against the impression that the war's going nowhere. Wasn't Larijiani out and about on their public holiday just the other day?

I've heard speculation the balloon might go up during Eid - its the weekend, its a holiday involving people gathering together after dark so its harder for the government to crack down or realize something might be up, its got great symbology THE WORD YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SYMBOLISM.
Trump saying one thing (4-6 weeks, send ships to open the Straight of Homos) and then doing another to catch opponents off guard is not out of line by any fucking means.

But while its possible there might some sort of demonstration or action, the IRGC/Basij aren't hollowed out enough and they still haven't finished sussing out loyalist vs. Monarchist/Willing to stand down* Artesh units. Israel isn't even close to done in Lebanon, Iraqi militia still wildin' so I really expect things to go longer.

The "common usage" you refer to makes sense when the alliance functions as an alliance. When one of its members spends an awful lot of time denigrating the rest, dismissing the soldiers that have died for their cause, and whined that they haven't too asked how high when Israel said jump it no longer holds.

I think something could happen really soon. Eid + Nowruz + the death of the leaders who repressed the protests, it looks like the perfect time to do something. I'm not sure either the Iranian people are ready for this, but something may happen.

Its far more degrading to the foreigners being bombed by our military. It shows them that we're so much better than them that we can have people working together who aren't in the same tribe or ethnicity or even race. Imagine how depressing it is to be some cousin-fucking tribal foreigner, who can't trust anyone in their country who isn't part of their own specific tribe, only to see half your tribe get blown up by a group of people who haven't had a common ancestor since before Roman times.

They don't. It's a Nilgiri class frigate from the Indian navy that someone shooped a bunch of czech flags over.

e: on closer inspection, it's not indian (you can tell because it doesn't have stink lines). Not sure where it's from now.
