Would you be ok with Mormon fundamentalists getting the nuke if they believed that destroying the American government would bring Joseph Smith the 12th and the second coming of Jesus? War with Iran is inevitable. They fund anti-American militias, believe America is the great Satan, and think they can usher in their false messiah if they nuke us. I’d rather rip off the bandaid and deal with them now when I know we can kick their ass then kick the can down the road. Greater conflict with Islam in the west is inevitable too. Killing or neutering Islamic Iran now is a good thing.

Removing Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Iran from the table is necessary and a win. We win by killing out enemies and driving them before us. Defeatism is gay and retarded. Yes, war is hell and evil but I’d rather win and come out on top. This isn’t Afghanistan or Iraq with unclear objectives outside of farming towel heads and the working class for money. This is an inevitable conflict on our terms and our time table. Better to fight it and win it now, and hopefully it’s enough to dissuade China from attacking us in a year from now.

Even if they, by a miracle, cause the collapse of the government, all that's going to happen is that they're going to fracture the country and you inevitably just get a different war. Iran's ethnic majority either wants freedom or it doesn't. Kurds are 10% of the population, they aren't going to form a popular government any time soon.

If the objective is just to bomb the Iranian military into ineffectiveness with nobody who actually has a chance to form a government and rule fighting for it at the same time, then this is a pointless exercise and is just going to result in a weak, fractured country that will probably fight 5 different civil wars in the next 20 years, get invaded by a neighbor or two in the process and probably give birth to a dozen new extremist groups who will inevitably strap bombs to their chest and blow themselves up in Berlin.

Mind you this isn't even the US's fault, you'd expect that after so many large, well attended protests, the Iranian people would be a lot more radical and willing to fight than they actually seem to be.
