Even Facebook Marketplace listings can be stupid as fuck. Someone wants to sell off their damaged 2025 Nissan Sentra with almost 20k miles on it, because "mom just can't keep up with payments due to being a single mom of 6":

Wyświetl załącznik 8303315 Wyświetl załącznik 8303317

So that's $2000, plus the rest of the payments that still need to be paid for the car loan.

Nigger alert!!!!

I see this sort of thing fairly often-people will try to sell the box or manual of a game for the price of the game itself,
but $220 for an empty-ass box is absurd.

People on eBay are completely retarded. I can't tell you how often I see description like "Rare!" when it's not. Or somehow that putting "vintage" on a 10 year old item then sell it for 50x what it's worth.

Check this out (The battery doesn't even work)

retard.png

There's dozens of them (in working) condition going for 10 bucks and up.

Well, at least the shipping is 15 dollars.

i remember before corona broke out and the "retro market!!!" people started claiming CRTs were RARE and ESSENTIAL for playing old vidya because "ooh da screeen blur!" like some kind of fucked audiophiles these tvs were like dirt cheap and so many people bought used ones for the funny value of just having a shrek or lightning mcqueen tv.

I've seen way too many listings the last few years of shit that's literally 1-5 years old being labelled as vintage the last 8 years and it's only been getting worse.

Well, at least the shipping is 15 dollars.
Look up "gi joe sigma 6 dragonhawk" for a really fun example of scalpers adding extra cost to something via shipping. For context, the sigma 6 gi joe vehicles are SMALLER SCALE than the normal ones and meant to go with limited articulation 2 inch figures they came with as opposed to most gi joe vehicles that are made for 3.75 to 4 inch figures.

Reason I looked up the thing to begin with was because i found a neat video where a guy modded one to fit the normal sized gi joes. it's still small for what it's supposed to be but it would be a fun mod to try ...OR AT LEAST IT WOULD BE IF PEOPLE DIDN'T WANT 60 DOLLARS PLUS 70 DOLLAR SHIPPING.

There were a few decent non beat to shit listings that were ok price wise but they vanished since I last looked the thing up but now it's just flippers trying to sell shit that's beat up and missing parts or moldy for a premium.

This one's literally trying to trick people who can't see the blatantly artificially inflated shipping price into bidding. Most of the listings of this thing are like this for some retarded reason.
1772344413781.png

Some of these are blatantly just pieced apart or resell flip attempts from the few sanely priced ones that vanished from listings all at once back in december-ish.

EDIT: Also after finding out about the hotwheels acceleracers reseller deathspiral I've been silently observing it while trying to find my 20 year old hotwheels cars because I know I have a lot of these and they're in better condition than any of these ones scalpers are just buying off each other making number go up will ever be.
1772344755407.png
I don't know how the fuck these ones ended up looking so rough I played with mine like crazy and they've been banging around in old really not good for metal and hollow plastic toy cars type boxes.
By the way I should point out this car isn't even rare it's literally the standard release version. There IS a slightly "rare" variant that's lime green and black and also being deathspiral scalped but it's weirdly trailing behind the red one that's the actually normal one.

EDIT AGAIN: not my photo but this is the green variant of the original one. (once again both are scalped to hell on ebay)

Ostatnio edytowane:
in an attempt to get some of Bob Shaw's big hits to read, I find out that reseller negroids spiked the price of Palace of Eternity/ Other Days, Other Eyes due to a few youtubers praising those books.

Unfortunately, those specific Shaws didn't get much of a print run outside of the UK/Aus region and now I either wait to see them IRL, wait to get lucky online, or pay retarded cash for the book.

What's funnier is that these youtubers went and praised some other off the wall SFF writers and it's also caused a bump of interest. Robert Silverberg's been one, but he's an american one and all of his shit's in wide circulation. Barry Malzberg's another one, but he's saved by this one print-on-demand publisher having the license to reprint ALL of his work.

Christopher Priest, Keith Roberts, and D. G. Compton seem to have spiked on the reseller market, especially in vintage editions. Priest's still widely available in print, but Outlaw Bookseller praising his books led to Valancourt Press noting that they sold a LOT of copies of the Priest books they had in stock. Roberts too, to an extent. Compton's kinda fucked outside of like 2-3 books. (Good luck finding Farewell Earth's Bliss now, after the youtubers fucking got that praised). I'd probably throw Tanith Lee into the mix too.

I mean, we've seen this before. Scarcity's a bitch, but I do find it funny that some resellers don't quite understand that you can't just go "I know what I have!!!!" because someone on youtube shilled a collectible book. Like, yeah, I'd love a copy of Palace of Eternity or Farewell Earth's Bliss, but not for absurd prices. Especially since there's still official ebooks of both, which means you can acquire them through other means if you really want.

But, say, getting Karl Edward Wagner or Michael Shea stuff? Good luck. You're basically looking for ancient paperbacks or super-limited small press stuff for 99% of their shit.

Market's kinda fucked up by resellers not actually knowing what they're doing. I see it IRL when I visit used bookstores and then I see some retard scoop up 8 piles of books and throw them onto the counter, while realizing that most of this shit isn't gonna get the ROI they want on the online secondary market unless they're willing to do a Thriftbooks and make a razor thin profit.

It's also made me realize that most resellers don't do research and just go through some gigantic blanket list of shit to grab from thrift stores/etc. All this has made me very racist against these people because they're insufferable and so many of them don't really know too much on what they're doing. I especially hate the dickish ones that ruin the store by trashing it all. I've had to see Haitians run through a book section of a thrift store and try to wall it off with toy boxes while grabbing a cart full of modern bestsellers, only to see them get visibly annoyed at me just poking through the shelves for like 2 small paperbacks of genre fiction.

I don't hate the idea of flipping/reselling. I hate how so many NIGGER-BRAINED RETARDS GET INVOLVED NOW BECAUSE THEY THINK OF IT AS A GET RICH QUICK STORY. I've had some get upset at me for asking for info on spine/binding condition, or dust jackets, or whatever's missing from the description because like 75% of these retards use stock imagery on their listings. KILL YOURSELVES.

Man, I can't even think of a reputable reseller site. Even Craigslist has crackheads trying to sell shit like it's gonna suck your soul out through your dick whenever you turn it on.

Waitfags always win.

This is for a DVD scratched to hell and back, too.

Know how much these costed a couple years ago? $12.

Kino movies btw, go pirate them.

I'd like to point out this expensive board game no one remembers, The Green Ghost Board Game. Years ago I saw the game in a movie. I think it starred Tim Allen. Anyway, I thought to myself "that can't be real product that was sold." Shockingly it is. It actually has gone down in price. Back then it was going for over 300. Now you can pick it up for a cool 220 bucks.
1772380190925.png

Also another really expensive board game you may actually remember, Dark Tower. The most memorable thing about it was that Orson Welles starred in the commercial for it. They notoriously break down quite easily. Working go for about 500. Not working go for about 200.

think the funniest vintage book edition of this I've seen is that Evangeline Walton's works are all getting reprinted in 2026-2027, leading to resellfags getting the rope.

She was one of the big forgotten classic fantasy writers and her Mabinogion quartet is well-regarded but oft forgotten like most pre-LoTR fantasy. It got re-issued a few times and all of those editions are widely collectible (and, thus, spiked in price on the second hand market over the past decade or so due to influencers and whatnot).

claiming CRTs were RARE

On the topic of old TVs, Korean VHS tapes are also super pricey on ebay. For context here, In Korea we held on to VHS a bit longer than the rest of the world since they were cheap as fuck and everyone owned a VHS player. Family Guy actually got this correct in that one episode about Quagmire being in a Drama.
The Cars VHS tape is pretty infamous for being the "last" VHS tape but a few VHS releases were still made until around 2011.

CRT's have their purpose, but they are only good for old systems that were made for them. They suck like ass if you try to use them for normal productivity. But the price of those later kids TVs are absurd. The screen quality isn't even good, they were bottom of the barrel tv's made using the old parts they had lying around to be sold to kids at cheap. The best CRT's were made in the early to mid 90s. Everything after that is where the quality starts to dip because of flatscreens taking over as the premium option.

the cope with these people for paying or charging so much for shittier CRTs is "no no see it's SUPPOSED TO BE BLURRY!"

They never experienced the good shit. I mean these are the same people that think "VHS=warbly spooky damaged tape effect ANALOG HORROR!?!?!?"" when you've got a lot of VHS rips on early youtube and the quality is just like slightly below DVD.

It's silly because you could by a mid-range crt from the 90's with the same exact quality for a fraction of the price of a 2000's character TV(I'm pretty sure most of them were using new old stock by that point anyway). It would be less pathetic if they admitted they were buying it as a nostalgic collectable, rather than for the tv itself.
