Outside of Central Asia, Russia and China's areas of influence don't really clash. Russia is focused on Europe, the Caucasus, and the Middle East. China is focused on the Subcontinent, SEA, and East Asia. As for Central Asia, Russia and China have taken a joint venture approach to quell any disputes. Any country in Central Asia that cozies up to one will also play ball with the other, ensuring they both get a piece of the pie and avoiding any resentment. And the Central Asian states largely do this of their own volition, cause they don't want their nations becoming host to a proxy war between two great powers. They've had enough of that shit over the past two centuries.
