Many major sport teams are in abusive relationships with their cities but if Chicago manages to lose the Bears who have been the city for over a hundred years at this point, there will definitely be political fallout. The owner of the franchise definitely knows how to give himself leverage in a deal that much is for sure.
As someone who doesn't enjoy or follow niggerball in any of its variants (e.g. "gridiron football" and "basketball"), I'd happily tell them to pound sand without hesitation. Disused stadiums can be co-opted for concerts and conventions, or torn down to resolve local traffic issues and provide more space for businesses or housing (depending on surroundings).

The problem is the Democrats don't care about low-level politics as much. If they retake the House and/or Senate, they will declare it a "blue wave" even if they get cleaned out in governor races or local state legislature elections. As a socal native I know how far cities will go to help accommodate big draws for tourism. Chicago is already facing financial issues, they can't afford to have even less money flowing into the city from out of town fans wanting to watch their favorite niggers play with each other's balls. It's retarded, but every game is an injection into the local economy from fans and the team is basically a walking billboard for the city. Having the team move is a major blow because it damages the city's reputation and now money will flow out of the city from local fans seeing the games out of town. Not to mention they got a big fuck off building they got to utilize some how or redevelop it, which is a cost they can't afford right now. This is a massive fuck up on the mayor's part.

gavin newsom cleaned up all the homelessness when xi came to visit, but I don't think wrangling crime addled YNs is actually possible in the same way. The cops know that if they're recorded being too aggressive they are going to be crucified, so they have little incentive to try to handle things.
