Unless he somehow bought the same exact door and shelf and got a room to look exactly like the Japan setup in America, he's... just in Japan.
 
so he's confirmed back in japan, but seemingly barely/not working based on the now-regular 7hr streams and unkempt hygiene. i can't imagine his company would allow him to teach english to children with that roach-infested beard, unless his lessons are virtual? i know nothing about japanese visas, but i have to imagine he gets kicked out before too long

I imagine he is just back there to organize the return of his N64 and graphics card. Would be on brand for him to go full silence on his full on train wreck end of Japan adventure and the proceedings of his return (on his grandmas expense). Good chances he also just needs time to come up with a positive spin on the whole thing.

I've been giving it some thought and I reckon he's going to use the psycho tenant back home as his reason.

"Well gee guys everything was going perfect in Japan, I had the contract drawn up with Miyamoto-san ready to go, but my gosh darn mom and brother couldn't take care of the lodger like I asked so I guess I have to go back and do it myself."

For all we know he'll claim the Yakuza were after him so he needed to bail.
 
My 2 cents: He's gonna stay until his visa expires, then he'll go back and try to flirt with girls half his age by mentioning that he worked for one year in Japan and that basically makes him a samurai master now

I just don't see how he affords it even with debtmaxxing.

Without some kind of income he can't last more than a few months even living like a complete neet.

If he'd taken a job outside Glorious Tokyo I could see him limping out the visa year.

Maybe he's hoping hours at the totally not scam ESL tutoring will pick up?

The funniest option would be taking out a second mortgage or something and using all the money to live in Japan until the house gets seized.

He started dating the daughter of the boss of the Yakuza. She goes to a different school though, you wouldn't know her.

Unless he was lying about his finances at the end of last year he must have borrowed money from his family, or begged them to finance the remainder of his time in Japan while he ties up loose ends, on the promise this will totally be the last time he does anything so stupid.

What a waste of being in Japan. If he really wanted to play some gay FFX romhacks at all hours without people telling him their preference on his quiet-ness he could have moved somewhere closer to home rather than halfway around the world and kept his old job.

If his personality is what I think it is there's a nonzero chance he's gotten sad because he has given up on resolving his "how do I stay in Japan long term?" predicament. I think that's the sole reason for the context drought at this point.
