The guy runs a gossip / drama site. It's akin to TMZ or Perez Hilton for ecelebs, weirdos, gooners and crazy people. People came to him and said they want to add fuel to that engine.

Whether he hates Tom, loves Tom or is apathetic, his duty is to his business (Kiwi Farms, Mad at the Internet podcast) which both significantly benefitted from the drama. More site activity, more new users, more name recognition.
