You clearly have never lived on a farm. There isn't a 1:1 or even 1:5 ratio of ranchers to cattle. It's often much higher than that. Keep in mind we bred niggers the same way we breed cattle. Then just think about how many modern-day welfare niggers are out there with 10+ children, 35ish year old grandparents and such. That's about 108 people for every starting person, divided over roughly 150 years. If 388,000 slaves each have 10 kids in their lifetime, that is 3.8 million in 1 generation. if those offspring have 10 kids each, that is 38 million in 2 generations.

You have no appreciation for scale. It limits most people, but that's what trips you up. Like looking at civil war images, you cannot wrap your head around the scale of the weaponry we had back then. It's even more incomprehensible now in 2026.

The closest thing we have going to a slave nowadays is a car. In terms of how much labor it takes to purchase one and the percent of your income it will cost to keep the car maintained, a car is a pretty good comparison to a slave, except that slaves had a much longer life expectancy than a car (US slaves actually had a longer lifespan than the Irish in the first half of the 19th century, but I digress).

Now imagine that if you kept two cars in your two-car garage, in a year's time, you have a third little compact car just sitting out there, growing into a full-size sedan over the next 15-18 years. Every year or two, another car arrives for you to be able to use for your own growing family or sell to someone else.

Slavery was a grave moral wrong and a practical blunder as well (it economically stunts areas in ways that are time-consuming and difficult to recover from). But it's very easy to see why the incentives aligned so that a large number of people were basically okay with it. If all you needed was two cars and a run-down garage just big enough for them to fit into, and that's all it took to have a little side business where you could make eventually make several months' pay in a big bonus every year, a lot of people would beg, borrow, or steal the money needed to get the cars into the garage and get that deal started.

If I was purely going to play Devil's Advocate against Trump disbanding the DoE I would have to say something along the lines of "It's far easier to break a functioning thing than it is to fix a broken thing." There could be unforeseen consequences, etc.

I don't believe this, because I'm extremely keyed in on just how much municipal and state funding is fucking wasted on schools. I can't even fund emergency services in my pet projects because such a staggering majority of taxes go toward education. It's dizzying, there is no accounting, and in many cases it's law that those funds are removed prior to allocating money to other shit in a town. It's such an easy environment for embezzlement that I'm certain that's absolutely what's happening, because throwing millions of dollars and iPads at these kids is not demonstrably improving their testing or long term development outcomes.

A reasonably wealthy school district to the north of me got a new superintendent two years ago. First thing he and the school board did was cut teacher pay by 15% and double the pay for the superintendent.

Dude is making nearly 400k.
