He has to believe it. He has to believe therapy helped him and his problems are solved. What's his alternative? Acknowledging that going to the rapist merely makes you raped, some problems are unsolvable and his life sucks? That's just painful and he. in the state he is, probably is unable to change any part of it. There's nothing to gain there for him.

Therapy, much like anything else in life, requires you to put in the work. He probably treated it like he did his boxing training. He refused to put in the very basic work. Guy wouldn't do cardio in a sport that is like 70 percent cardio, highly doubt he took the time and effort to actually look at himself and fix what is wrong with him.

I’m gonna throw Ian a rare bone (before making fun of him as always) - losing your successful Internet career and now hater channels get more views than you is honestly traumatic. He probably does have a lot of stress with how things went down over the past few years. BUT it was obviously his own fault. He is traumatized by the results of his own shitty and retarded actions, but he IS traumatized by them. Like if you attacked someone, and they rocked you so hard you ended up with broken bones. Still need to go get a cast!
Maybe EMDR will help resolve that specific trauma, but it won’t help him grasp that it was his own fault which is a major problem. Therapy doesn’t do much for these two. Most of us here, despite being Kiwi farmers, wouldn’t need to be told over and over about the importance of empathy by a therapist because we’re not psychopaths who lack it. It probably wouldn’t even come up in the conversation. These two went to therapy and had to be lectured about the importance of having empathy, really let that set in. They both have personality disorders imo, and they both have done exactly what cluster b’s do when they go to therapy - they weaponize therapy speech and concepts against the people around them/perceived enemies. Neither one has learned empathy either, and that is the futility of trying to fix a cluster B person.
They want OTHER people to be empathetic and nice so they can steamroll over them, deflect from criticism, and shut them up from any self-defense. I am reminded of one of the most lying liars I know, who seemed to think one of the most important qualities a person could have is being “trusting”. Not trustworthy, trusting.
