Correct. I don’t love it when people conflate the desperate BPD search for a brand new personality with bipolar manic episodes. Not saying I don’t understand why they get conflated, even some psychiatrists misdiagnose it (especially since bipolar is the more sympathetic disorder… nobody wants to be told they have one of the cluster b’s).
Like if a bipolar person manically got an impulse tattoo, you might expect to see regret and confusion about their own behavior on the comedown. I would also expect more frantic word-salad tweets, maybe some nutty reference to feeling like God, etc etc. People who have bipolar also can be pretty normal when they’re not having an episode, there are treatment plans and medicines that work well… They also know who they are (usually). If they are a writer, their manic and depressive episodes will still often revolve around writing, for example. Think Kanye, since Anisa tweeted about him. His manic episode made him write a pro-Hitler song, maybe not a great career decision BUT ultimately he was still doing what he does, which is music. Just totally different disorders and while I think Anisa gets really pumped when she finds a new personality, it’s just not a manic episode the way bipolar people have it.
