Also, you should try Buusuu. It's a superior version of Duolingo that lets you train as much as you want without the hearts mechanic. There's also a community aspect, you can get your exercises corrected by people who speak the language and correct other people that are trying to learn the language you already speak.

Busuu is not complex at all. You just do a bunch of exercises as you progress. I can almost understand german because I was finishing the A1 level, but I stopped and now I need to practice again. I was also learning a bit of chinese, but its a fucking tonal language so I gave up.

As I said before, I got a decent level of understanding of the language from doing really simple exercises for very little time and progressed relatively fast. I think I was doing 1 hour 3x a week? There is not much, if anything at all that I dislike about the site. It does its job as intended.

I didn't remember the ads. I think I got rid of them by simply reloading the page? And if there were non hard-coded ads(pop ups and side ads and such), I didn't see them because I use adblockers.
I haven't gotten past the A1 level in german, so it is possible that there is some kind of jewery afoot where they ask you to pay to access the higher tiers, but I don't recall coming across it.

I feel like a significant unaddressed problem is where specifically is best to live. I lived in Tirana for a year, and it's a nice place and all, but just because the Muslims there aren't as hard core as Saudis doesn't mean that they don't take aspects of their religion very seriously. Enver Hoxha might have suppressed religion during his rule, but once he was gone things went back to the old status quo, more or less. Also, just like everywhere else on the planet, things in Albania have gotten considerably more expensive over the last few years, especially since Albania has become a popular vacation spot for Europoors who can't afford to go to the coast in France, Italy or Spain.

I'm not concerned with it being a "paradise" so much as I am interested in staying at a 5 star ocean front luxury resort and casino in a history rich ancient country with insanely good and fresh food for $158. That shit is a steal. I watched a video made by a woman who moved there from the US and she talked about the cost of flights in Albania and even that is insanely cheap, $18 to fly to the UK according to her. With some planning and learning you could have the most amazing vacation of all time for next to nothing.

The US is really the only place in the world that allows and tolerates (white) foreigners that involve themselves in domestic political issues.
