His recording also debunks that pointless argument the libs keep pushing about him 'violating protocol' by standing in front of her car. Beyond that not being against protocol (the car is parked), you can clearly see in his recording that he's not in front of the car until she backs up, lining the car up with him. He then takes one step to the side, which is honestly probably what saved his life. Otherwise he'd have been right in the middle of the hood when he got hit, instead on a patch of icy ground that let him slide back when the bumper collided with his hip.
