it seems americans, both the left and right, have been under such incompetent executive authority and handling of conflicts for so long
that when a military op is quick, bloodless, and effective it breaks our brains because we have been conditioned (or traumatized) by 40 years
of retard-led military adventurism to expect pointless, drawn out, and dumb conflicts.

turns out you can just do things.

It's funny to see the coping but also very disturbing to see right wingers turned into quislings due to brainrot from Tucker and co

That Venezuelans outside Venezuela are reacting to this with almost unanimous jubilation is also telling. Sure, you might write them off as filthy diaspora who need to go back anyway but the norm for the anywhere-but-here flag waving diaspora is to blindly, performatively support the old country while living anywhere but. Can you imagine how the Somalis would react if Trump knocked off one of their myriad corrupt leaders back in Somalia? Or how Mexicans would react to him blackbagging Sheinbaum?

I'm still getting caught up, but man it's crazy to think what'll happen if there's no negative consequences to this. Most Anericans have been anti-adventurism because it always seems to result in multi-year deployments, immense financial investment, refugee crises, etc.

But if this doesn't cause any of that, then really there's not much incentive for Americans to disapprove anymore. It feels like we're watching the international political calculus change in real time.
A lot of people don't realize this, but the only reason we're "bad" at regime changes is because the powers that be usually want to fuck up the nations we're regime changing. When we actually have people in charge who want to just remove a thorn in our side, this is how it is handled. You negotiate ahead of time with allies internally, then march in and do whatever you need to do, then pull out. The U.S. doesn't ever need to actually go to war with anyone. It can handle things quickly and efficiently, and no one can say or do shit. I have to give props to Trump, though. I didn't think he'd be able to deal with Venezuela without actually going to war. Still a 0 war President.

The funniest thing is, because it's a Saturday, a lot of people I've talked to didn't even know that we had acted on Venezuela. So when you tell them "Maduro was arrested" they're like "what? By who?" Then you tell them "by Trump, we walked in and grabbed him" and they don't believe it until they look it up on their phones. There's a good likelihood that many people won't even know this happened until Monday or later next week, and by then a lot of the specifics on U.S. involvement going forward will be worked out.

If Maduro beats the charges in trial he can look forward to a promising career in the Democratic Party.

Migrant, known drug trafficker, long experience of political graft and corruption, hates Donald Trump. He’s perfect for them really.

It's like Ray said in Generation Kill:

"We're America's Pitbull. They beat us, starve us, and occasionally let us out to bite someone".

It's also why Marines get shorted on supplies. It makes them angry and eager to kill people.
Fruity Rudy was in it for the love of the game. Ran the base perimeter with a rucksack full of rocks for fun.

Take this report with a grain of salt because I can't confirm it but I have seen multiple sources I trust say that F-22's were the SEAD force and that the Venezuelans never even got a return on their radars the whole time the Raptor's were in their airspace. Even as the missiles were hitting the SAM sites the Venezuelans had zero clue what was happening.

No doubt both Russia and the Chinks are paying close attention, those Raptor's are bloody scary.

the forever wars were undoubtedly a massive blow to how americans view even legitimate uses of force outside our borders
and I can't pretend that is unwarranted.
But what marks the difference between 20 years in afghanistan and a 5 hour "mom pick me up" within spitting distance should be obvious.

I understand those points of view and in the next few decades it might be the only overlapping point between the left and right
because regardless of party, the Bush and Obama years of slow, aimless counterinsurgency did more to curb the american appetite for war than
the relatively shorter and hotter viet nam conflict.

The only thing that matters is if they're happy enough to go back home.

Uh oh, we pissed Spain off, let Maduro go now.

Archive sites are screwed now.
Jan 3 - Spain will not recognize a U.S. intervention in Venezuela that violates international law, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Saturday, after U.S. forces captured long-serving Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in an overnight operation.
"Spain did not recognize the Maduro regime. But neither will it recognize an intervention that violates international law and pushes the region toward a horizon of uncertainty and belligerence", Sanchez wrote on X, after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the U.S. would run the South American country until a "safe" transition was completed.

A shit load of C-17's are heading to / already arrived in the UK. This is notable because a similiar massing happened before the strikes in Iran.

I just want people to remember that this kind of thing can be accomplished, but we can't stop all the domestic economic and judicial terrorism being commited against The People of the United States from within the government.

A van surrounded by a vast and heavy escort is believed to contain President Maduro, is currently making its way through Manhattan.
It is suspected that the convoy is going to Drug Enforcement Agency's New York division at 99 Building on 10th Avenue for booking. From there, he will be taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn for detention.
Mamdani humiliation ritual.
