People moral fagging about "international law" saying that it signals Russia and China to break it are ridiculous.
Do you think China cared about international law by sending out massive fishing trawlers that scrape the ocean floor destroying ocean life, or do they respect international law by threatening to invade Taiwan every other month, what about the 9 dash line bullshit by building fake islands to claim more exclusive economic zones at sea.
Don't even get me started on Russia and its "respect of international law". For whatever reason the only people to respect international law are the US, Canada, and Europe for no reason.
The United States has always been lecturing its opponents for "breaking international laws" while ignoring it when it benefits them, it has been happening since the founding of this country, but it REALLY ramped up in the cold war, I can't even list the amount of very suspicious things that were happening around that time, hell, we all lived through the bizarro foreign entanglement bullshit that was Iraq and Afghanistan, the practical purpose of International law is to not really prevent countries from doing bad things to other countries, its to minimize the collateral damage as much as possible, there's a reason peer-to-peer wars have been rare post WW2.

why did Trump even attack venezuela of all places? why not mexico? if it's for the migrants then mexico is more guilty, if it's for the usurping of power then again mexico is more deserving with the insane corruption and assassinations, if it's for the crime then again mexico.
Because unlike Mexico, Maduro was not elected and recognized as the President of Venezuela by like anyone.

The president of Mexico in theory was elected and is recognized as such by literally everyone.

The distinction matters.

Because we can annihilate Venezuela in two hours with zero casualties.

Also despite the obvious cartel fuckery, the election of Senorita Jewenbaumawitz is recognized as legitimate.

trump and company did an absolutely INSANE job at keeping this shit under wraps. no one knew this was coming. this was an article from like 12 hours before the shit went down or something.

more evidence for anyone who needs it that doomers were always on the side of leftists. "no, the US military CAN'T do anything!"

On one hand, trump essentially tsking over a country unilaterally and using oil as his first reason(i know there are other reasons) sounds a lot like 2003.

On the other hand, having the whole world watch the USA actually accomplish what Russia attempted with its SMO without suffering and casualties and saying "this is mine now" is badass and the third of Venezuelans that escaped can go back now.

Either way, Republicans lose if they dont focus on domestic issues and get some major public wins this year.

Venezuela has a number of reasons to be targeted over Mexico:
1. Generally hostile to the United States
2. Drug trafficking
3. Chinese and Russian ally in the region
4. Doesn't have all that many manufacturing facilities owned by American companies (Mexico has tons of these) so there are less potential economic ramifications.
5. Smaller country with what seems to be a weaker military

There may be actions in Mexico in the future but Venezuela was just easier to go after first.

it's all about the securing the oil baby, ever wonder why the Trump admin was huffing and puffing over the comparatively irrelevant Venezuelan drug traffickers when most of the drugs coming into this country comes from the southern border and by all metrics the cartels there have done so much worse in fueling the national drug epidemic?

If anything, I'd imagine China would be LESS motivated to invade Taiwan now. We just completely stomped the Maduro regime in a matter of hours without a single casualty on our side, minimal Venezuelan casualties, and achieved the goal of capturing the dictator.

Putin got completely mogged. Compare 4 years of meandering in Ukraine to this operation.

I would have liked both Maduro getting churroed and all the illegals being dropped into the Gulf of America, but I never get mass deportation.
I'm a little bit angry we're so willing to bend the rules on one issue but not the other, but this is far more preferable to what was happening last administration.

I just wish eventually someone will actually stick to their promise of purging the brownoids

America is literally soo overwhelmingly powerful that the sovereign militaries of South American dictatorships are weaker than the American Administrative State that facilitate the abuse of the country. I know this might be hard to believe, but the battle domestically within the organs of the state are far more complex and difficult than what we just saw early this morning.

It really should not be understated how entrenched and powerful the domestic bureaucracy is when the skimming off the top of one middling state's social programs are enough to wage multiple wars in East Africa.

This is what I mean by unserious. We just got a revelation of how large and consequential the grift facilitated by government officials is and people still think it's as simple as telling them "no."

the venezuelan state is openly and belligerently anti-american, while the mexican state generally cooperates pretty closely with america.

The impotent rage on display is hilarious. You got libs calling it a warcrime, a distraction, calling for the deaths of US soldiers. It just really demonstrates that they really have no concept of international law. Tyler's multi-hour freakout is my favorite:
