The fact that the USA is going for a military occupation with no clear plan on who will be taking over after the occupation is over and what plans they have has me deeply concerned that this "nation building" effort will amount to nothing more than a permanent puppet government used exclusively for the extraction of oil in the region. The same corruption that let this situation happen will stay in place, but instead of dealing in cocaine for a dictator, its dealing in oil for the profit of the United States.

I fear that means an effective permanent presence of troops in the region may occur to prop up a governance that is just as hated as the previous one, fueling yet another people to utterly despise the United States instead of just restoring peace to the region with a reasonable government that would do trade with the United States on equal terms and be able to manage itself without the constant need of American blood.

The last thing the United States needs to be doing in a recession like this is expensive empire building only for it to fail like in Afghanistan.

There is literally an elected government with Eduardo Gonzalez as it's official head and Maria Mochado as it's actual head that was voted into power in July 2024, which made Maduro tism out and nullify the election so he could keep his churro stash safe. This isn't Iraq where there was no coherent movement to replace the Baathist party that 2 of the other 3 ethnoreligious factions that make up that country don't also hate.
