Tbh I don't think I've ever seen them bring it up outside of ai art, and even then, not as often as you might expect. Trying to be as charitable as possible, I'll assume they're using it as a shorthand for 'the human touch' or something else unrelated to religion, but I still do find it really funny that they're willing to at the very least pay lip service to the idea of something spiritual existing just to try to argue their point.

And also, I've seen so many YCH's or Telegram sticker sets made from the same base. On an artistic level, are near-identical, by-the-numbers pieces like those all that different from an ai generating some generic-looking furry art based on the gorillion pics it was trained on? I don't even care for ai art, but trying to defend the sanctity of human art in spite of the countless examples of fill-in-the-blank commission bullshit on twitter and bsky is ridiculous imo

With adoptables you are literally buying nothing. You're buying a gentlemen's agreement that a specific artist won't draw a specific character design ever again, and sometimes not even that. There's no transfer of copyright because it's unlikely that a random adoptable rises to the level of copyrightability. Other people could start drawing your adoptable and develop it into their own character and there's likely nothing you can do about it.

Training AI on publicly-posted art is exactly the same as breaking into a museum and stealing a physical painting so no one else can see it. Everyone knows when you scrape an image, it's being permanently deleted everywhere except the AI's vault of evil plagiarism. This is probably the least retarded among these takes, but it's still incredibly ignorant to what art is in this situation. I agree that the iterative, feedback-gathering parts of art are something it has over ai art. I know you can fine tune prompts and use in-painting to regenerate parts of it, but I think it'll be a long while before ai can interpret feedback and prompts with the same nuance as an actual human artist (and an ai won't ask, 'wait, do you mean x?' if it's given ambiguous or unclear directions like a person would.) But at the end of the day, the "story" behind a particular piece of art doesn't really matter when it's a product. Whether a great piece of art was made in an hour or slowly made over months of slow work, it's only really as valuable as the finished product. I don't agree, but I can understand the desire to try to cut down on drafting/sketching phases since it has a negligible impact on the final product and its perceived value compared to the finalized art.
