A cement cube with ceramic tile floors is the ideal living space for the Ralphamale lifestyle. Trash, filth and cat litter is the closest he will ever get to an home aesthetic.

Ralph started to make a small effort at home decor with May. I recall in his “studio” he had a bulletin board where he tacked up photos and cheap tourist trinkets from places he had visited? The man owned tacks and used them.

I might be giving Ralph too much credit and it was May who tried to decorate his room, but those days are gone. He now has cement block walls, which mean he’d have to put thought and effort into hanging anything. His tacks are useless. He can’t even hang a cork board because he doesn’t own a drill.

Also I’d bet most of his chinaseum tourist bits and bobs are long gone, just like papaw’s ring.
