It's infuriating that people think they get to weigh in on your existence while coming out - as if they get to participate and filter you through their judgement before you are bequeathed your allowed acceptance. It’s like: why do you think this is something you get to have an opinion on?

I cannot believe how quickly family can drop you and become hostile on a DIME. Coming out has me shaken from the cruelty from people who supposedly loved me my whole life. From best bro to predator.

I recently worked up the courage to come out to my family and in-laws to just get it out of me and over with. My brother in law and I have been very tight for over a decade. I knew that there could be some issues with everyone else, but I knew he would be someone I could lean on.

WRONG.

My wife watches our nephew while she WFH to help him out through tough times. Within 10 minutes of him receiving my letter, he shows up to my house, grabs my nephew, and tells my wife to burn whatever they left behind.

I’m just in complete shock. This is someone who I have done nothing but loved. I’ve welcomed he and his family into our home. Helped them out whenever they needed it. We have been so close. And just like that - I’m a predator, not to be trusted around my nephew anymore.

Sister in law did the same thing - insinuated shes uncomfortable with me being around my niece.

We sat down with them to talk about what is next for the community and the importance of sisterhood in trying times.
