I’ve said multiple times before that pretty much the only proactive military engagement I would be for is taking out the cartels.
They are waging an opium war on us, they do horrific shit, and most importantly they are literally here in the US and right below us.

I never understood that above argument. Of course "things were better because you were young" would apply because, typically you did not have a lot of responsibilities then. Go to school, do your chores/homework, make friends, learn from your mistakes.

The good times from childhood would be from your favorite entertainment fixes, the memories from holidays/birthdays with family, the friends you made along the way, learning how the world is day by day. I think it also relates to two things: the wave of technology and Internet was rapidly setting stage for millennials in the 2000s. Everything was feeling new and improved; HDTV, smartphones, online multiplayer, social media.

It's easy to reminisce about childhood, good and bad, because you have hindsight to learn from before to not repeat itself. Again, the 2000s, even after 9/11, had promise for prosperity and growth for Western civilization thanks to advancements in technology and overall quality of life improvements compared to prior decades. As proven now, greed, power and entitlement whisked away those elements of promise for that generation and the next.

I always hated it when 4channy menchildren tried gaslighting me and said things are always like that. Even if it were something trivial like movies. "Go back and watch that movie it looked just as bad."

It bothered me because I've always been very confident in my memory and my reasoning; I don't need an imageboard NPC to tell me what to think, and unfortunately that sort of cancer was already pervasive all the way back in the mid 2000s. Unsurprisingly, that same demographic went overboard with the "I am a NEET incel because the Economy sux " copium (This was even before the 2008 global crash happened, interestingly enough), as well as doubling/tripling down on "everyone just makes up and believes everything was better." (There's a reason why the 4chan-to-tranny pipeline is so well documented) Again I've never been into the whole entitled snowflake shit so that offended me. When people point out how great things are, the 4cuck creatures are quick point topivot things like TVs and other consumer shit, and it's still like this to this day.

Anyway,

the 90s nostalgia is understandable in that, at least in the context of North America, the 90s encapsulated the last vestiges of normalcy in many places outside of the largest cities and Southern border. The postmodern disease was certainly beginning to metastasize and had already completely ruined some areas, absolutely.

But it wasn't all pervasive, and there was a hope meaningful reform could be reached which didn't involve the dystopic SHIT HITS THE FAN! scenario which is now an inexorable certainty.
