This legitimately ruined my day, At the Gates were one of the bands responsible for pulling me out of the trash pile that was nu-metal as a young teenager and Slaughter of the Soul is still one of my top 5 albums. So fucking bummed.
I'm so happy I finally got to see them live when they were touring for To Drink from the Night Itself. Show was fucking amazing too.

New Elder "EP" (one 13.5 minute song and 5 minutes of keyboard noodling) and associated video dropped.
I really like how they got Ross Scott's younger brother to play drums, but I wish they would get their keyboards taken away. When that shit's not going they can be heavy as hell.

I think I prefer songs that were inspired by other bands more than covers. A death metal band playing another death metal band's cover is nothing special, even if it's two bands I love like Deeds Of Flesh playing Gorguts.
Here's Obscura playing Morbid Angel. I don't care if it's a clear ripoff, I think it's cool.

It becomes white noise to me, if I listen to Cannibal Corpse and Death I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I don't mean to shit on the bands, as an aspiring drummer I could hear the amount of effort and passion that goes into it. It's just not for me.
