Something that I've been thinking about regarding the reaction to Charlie's murder:

Anyone who is right-wing, or even just disagrees but still understands right-wing positions, is familiar with the casual bigotry that leftists display toward righties in their daily lives. Everyone has experienced a leftist bringing up Republicans apropos of nothing. For example, in a gaming group that I'm in, we have a guy who out of absolutely nowhere will start talking about how Republicans are incapable of learning. Just last night, he said that everyone that is sympathetic to Charlie Kirk should die in a fire. This despite an explicit no politics rule (which he constantly flouts because of his Correct Opinions.)

So, I gotta wonder: how much of the backlash to the gravedancing is the pent-up frustration of people who are constantly talked down to in their personal lives? Especially when you have absolute proof that, despite what righties have thought for decades, lefties aren't merely naive but genuinely malicious in a way that most people can't easily comprehend. Maybe the mistake is in trying to impose a rigid left/right dialectic on all politics, especially if it's purely economic in definition and doesn't consider other distinctions such as nationalism/globalism, social conservatism/social progressivism etc.

The right vs left dichotomy is one of the many different political postures and it's just the posture about egalitarianism, pro or against it. Some ideologies can intersect, for example, globalism is highly linked to leftism because of its egalitarian approach. Conservatism relates to the right because it promotes a hierarchical society that goes against the concept of how we all are equal.

My point is. Or the shit you see if you spend more time on this site, and watching/reading the news than you do outside dealing with people in real life. We get shown stories that get the media views, drive up social media engagement, and that benifit the political/business interests of the people that are sharing them. There are actual fucked up things that happen constantly, that are likely more relavent to be worried about, but they won't be talked about unless it fits the narrative of whoever is pushing the story. I don't think the people that actually benifit the most from all of it actually care about poltics, at least not the bullshit 2 party politics. Where we get to pretend one side is winning or losing. The only people that have ever won, are the government, and it's agencies, and corporations with more money than god. We point, and blame eachother instead of looking at them.

Really I shouldn't even bother answering, a bullshit reductio ad absurdum response, as if I'm going to convince anyone that in fact the world is fucked up, but real life is better than the view of it through the internet would make it seem.

Sometimes I hope I can convince at least one person, that media, news, and the internet fucks up our brains up beyond comprehension. In a way I definitely can't fully understand, much less explain. But we have this hardwired instinct that tell us we need to keep looking for the danger in this world, and when we have modern technology showing it to us in an amount that people would only experiencer if they were fighting in a war or something in the past. There is no way to not fall for it, if you are looking at it constantly, and thinking about it all of the time. I don't know if it's so hard to convince people, becase we want to feel the fear and anger? I definitely think there have to be a lot of people that give into it, because it distracts them from their real life, and the things they know they should actually deal with, because in some ways the more important things in life are a lot harder, and scarier to face, than the boogie men we are fed by political pundits. Really the only reason I've even continued posting in this thread. Is because I feel like people need some voice of reason. Even if they just think what I'm saying is dumb. It's a voice saying, just pay attention to your real life. Where the people that actually matter to you are. Even though there are fucked up people that, would want you dead, there are a lot of people (likely a lot more than not) that would never want that to happen to you. That even though there are killings, and fucked up stories happening every day, if you live your life in fear, and anger, that's a life wasted, and that's a mentality, that will lead to bad decisions.
