I am curious about this, if an OSHA report is 100% anonymous then what is stopping people who don't actually work at a given company from filing one?

1. The claims have to be real. They actually investigate it. I think you need to provide some initial proof, but I'm not sure.

2. I heard that non-anonymous complains have a higher chance of being successful, which suggests they don't allocate as many resources to yours if you go full anonymous.

I don’t think they care if people who don’t work there file. Like any other Government agency, it’s about the VAST amount of money made off the violations.

I think it might have changed during COVID. Hypothetically, let’s pretend I own a business. And during COVID, people on the left decided to weaponize OSHA because they know my business was not enforcing the mask rule. Say the Government, OSHA, got over $30k from just MY business alone for mask violations. Bonus, while they were there, say they saw an electrical cord that wasn’t put away by an employee, or some other minor infractions. There’s even more money. How many other Right wing businesses were/are targeted by liberal infested OSHA employees? How much money made? I don’t think they will be stopping their criminal practices anytime soon.
