Same here, it's gotten to the point where I actively avoid discussing it unless it's a throwaway line like "yeah it's good." Not to sound like a media literacy fag but it seems a lot of the issues these older shows tackled simply glides over their little heads.

It's particularly ironic that they latch to a series like Lain, which deals with a dystopia of terminally online people. It's not meant to be a blueprint for your personality.
