Ian and Dane were talking about funerals and how some people choose the “celebration of life” path and he thought it was too optimistic or something? I think it went from there and he transitioned to talking about how his parents had toxic positivity or some shit and he was never able to experience negative emotions because they would try to distract him. Idk, tbh, I was really struggling. I have a very hard time watching/listening/summarizing Ian. My brain kind of just shuts off.

- Ian says he and Anisa want to be cremated
- Ian is retarded and said funerals are two weeks to a month after a person dies
- only people he knows who have died were “soooo old”
- then he goes on and says some of his relatives who have died were immediately cremated and they had a celebration of life
- dane disagrees with the celebration of life ceremonies and thinks people should be sad at funerals because it’s healthy to be sad at death
- Dane said his best friend died five years ago and at his memorial the family requested instead of emotional standard eulogy they wanted people to come up and do a Comedy Central style roast because they thought he’d like it
- Ian said he relates to that because his family is into the celebration of life, they are overtly positive to an unhealthy degree and he calls it toxic positivity
- Ian says it was rough growing up in that environment because it would be like “hey you’re feeling down? Let’s work really quickly to get you over that” or they wanted to distract him from feelings

This recap made me mad enough to actually consider watching the podcast for the first time ever just so I can properly shit on it. Leave it to Mr. Empathy to gatekeep how people should mourn the death of a loved one.

Isn't this fucked up? Blatantly making fun of a dead person at his own funeral, this would have been the most embarrassing thing imaginable while at the same time showing zero respect to the dead.
