I already tried to coax him into having pro social hobbies like baking, photography, gardening, I feel like animal rescue at some point as well.

FW even if you can't make time as an official volunteer, you could still go to animal shelters and ask if there are any kittens you could see and then give them hugs and maybe even kisses or play toys. Make sure there's vacancies at the shelter before you abandon Kirby.
