I go away for a few days because of family illness and when I get back DC is under federal control.

Well, this is what I'm always telling Democrats: if you don't like it, you should have done literally anything, at literally any point, to solve the problem your way before the populists solve it theirs.

Populist moves toward higher policing aren't something I think is overall good. But what was anyone supposed to do? Incremental solutions or trying to solve the problem piecemeal hasn't worked. Infinite services haven't worked. Stopping policing hasn't worked. The Dems could have implemented stronger police protections and stopped some of the crime in DC to the point where people wouldn't have stood for something like this. "Hey, they were making real progress!" Instead all they've got are fake stats someone's going to go to jail over.

It's the inevitable result of bad local leadership, and it was preventable if the Democrats, who had full control over DC's local government, had proposed any reality-based solutions that stood up to empirical testing. Instead, they went with idealistic claptrap that was as unfounded scientifically as flat earth theory. It was about wish fulfillment, where all that the dregs of society needed to be good was to be given enough that their needs were all met. Progressives have been singing that song since the 1910s and it's got a nice first verse but it never comes together. There's always anecdotal evidence of people who can be uplifted, but none of these efforts can scale beyond the occasional diamond in the rough.

I don't think that federal troops patrolling DC streets is ideal. But you only get this kind of political movement toward accepting military and strong police presence when everything else has failed. It doesn't just happen without many years of neglect that lead to people feeling disgust and dehumanization. If you wanted people to see fentanyl addicts as humans worthy of their sympathy, you shouldn't have left so many out on the streets walking around and ruining the sympathetic vibe. If you let people who act inhuman show themselves in public all the time, eventually people will just decide they aren't human after all, and don't deserve rights.

When the only alternatives you can choose are "bike cuck" and "brownshirt," more and more people will start goose-stepping.

Nah you have to humiliate the race. Sentence them to food service.
Lol, Indians are humiliation golems. They should be ashamed just existing outside of their country, but they are not, so allow them to wallow in filth over there.

I wouldn't have even bothered replying, but I sense recently that people are really turning against immigration ,and these types of arguments are losing ground. I couldn't be happier. (Not) Xavier in chat showed me this Alex Stein video where he's interviewing the sons of Alex Jones and Destiny, but the relevant thing is it started with this bit where he was at some DC rally and interviews people saying he's protesting on behalf of "big booty Latinas". Saying what if we just keep the big booty Latinas. Not a single person agrees. Some had pretty funny comebacks, but everyone is just saying "no, everyone has to just gtfo". Don't get cute with it, don't get fancy. Reduce all immigration at any cost. Food isn't an excuse. Race mixing isn't an excuse. Deport them all, then let's see how things are going.

Everything else aside, every single gun law is fucking infringement and shouldn't stand. Massie actually got this right. "carrying a pistol without a license" sounds like a huge stack of bullshit to me. Every single ATF agent should stick their sidearm in their mouth and pull the fucking trigger.
It's so fundamental to our founding it comes after "You may speak freely.", the founders were clear about this.

Did school/mass shootings just basically stop in the last few years? It seemed like during the 2000s/2010s there was a new massive school shooting or something every few years but the last one I can remember is either Parkland or Sandy Hook, whichever came last.
The ‘right wing’ ones stopped once Obama left office and were replaced with transgender ones under Biden but we don’t talk about those.

The US Secret Service has released a mass shooter analysis in 2023, but only for the period 2016-2020 for some unknown reason that is likely completely unconnected to their failure to protect Trump adequately.
There were 173 mass shootings “a quarter of which were connected to conspiracy theories and hateful ideologies” meaning I guess that most mass shootings aren’t a result of anything but, uh, ‘socioeconomic factors’.

The reason you didn’t hear about as many mass shootings under Biden was that he had some very fucking stupid and expensive policies to curb gun violence that either weren’t implemented, or didn’t work, and so the media simply clammed up.

I could see the concern about federalization if DC were an actual fucking state ... But it's not, lol. It's literally the Nation's Capital.

Also, Dems were all about federalizing the police when they were pushing for every state to "Defund" their police, and you can't convince me otherwise.

The Dems are too assmad about their dreams of DC gaining statehood being crushed to read the room. Most of the country wants to be tougher on crime. That's what the majority of the people voted for this past November, too.

Keep it up, Dems. This cosmically out of touch approach to crime is going to be costly for them in future elections.

I do wonder what politics will look like now that Trump is the new boogeyman ala Reagan.

The same retards in 40 years will still be bitching about blumpf.
Trump is nothing if not an egotist and seemingly wants to be a Great Person in history.

Thus, he'd probably see that as a huge W. Being remembered is a form of immortality.

It kinda makes sense that school shootings would come and then go, mass crimes seem to work like social fads. You never, ever hear about post office shootings anymore but once upon a time that was the big one.
Yeah, that's definitely why. School shootings didn't massively drop off after USAID funding was cut off or anything, that just wouldn't make any sense.
