Hell throw me in if you would. I know a good deal about the academic/theoretical side of things@I_Am_Not_Bruce_Willis If you need help, make a PM chain and add the regulars of this thread here (Pls include me too)
This is a very good post. A lot of posts in this thread give me new perspectives on things that I have known before in a new light and something like this sorta speaks volumes to me. As someone who likes certain anime like that, it's quite bizarre to see a mostly American fanbase for such a Japanese concept. A good recent example is Umamusame which is getting a herd of western fans due to global release, which is to be expected,d but nonetheless, it would thrive in 2015 era tumblr. So basically, it's not the anime, it's the enviroment. Raise autistic zoomzooms with a diet of undertale, steven universe, discord, and later twitter and see how they turn out. The non-weebs in there had this stunted, north american "anime is le CRINGE" attitude you talked about earlier, and guess what? They still trooned out, they're just too furfags instead. If Snow Halation wasn't forced then these kids would be furtroons into UTDR still. At best they become activists after years of mocking SJWs and saying the nigger word because that is the new meta and they don't want to be excommunicated.
Umamusame
I see what you did there.a herd
Now that you bring it up, this ironic weeb cropped hentai hoodie era feels like an overreaction to the rejection of anime as a concept that was still lingering at the time. This is a very good post. That whole thing reminds me of spoiler related which is very fucking asscancer but It's the only thing I can really find that represents that era of strange otakuism.

Replace "ironic weeb" with mid 2010s weeaboo, and it makes more sense. Don't tell anyone but I miss this era of animuism
Wasn't this because at the time weeb midwits like Digibro started making overanalized essays about the "hidden deepness" about x moe anime too? Many friendless, low-functioning, male amerimutt spergs would watch Love Live because of SiIvagunner
I kinda miss it too but thank fucking god im reformed. You would've hated high school me.Wyświetl załącznik 7779725

Topkek. I've already posted that image and remember it like the back of my hand. I still vividly remember the "Reddit weeb" era of the Internet, with how certain anime were among the most popular (I.E. JJBA, Dragon Maid, Re:Zero, Blend S, etc.), Kizuna Ai was the only vTuber people cared about before ProjektMelody and Hololive blew up, and how r/Animemes and Pewdiepie's Meme Review were at the center of it all. I liked that era, but it's not my favorite, and not really one I wanna experience again.Wyświetl załącznik 7779725

Pinterest I guess. It's almost as cringe as tumblr depending on what u search.I liked tumblr because I could punch anything into the search and it would return whatever you like. Now they force you to have an account. Is there any other site like this that you can use without an account?
Trollships.I'll still never understand how Homestuck took off. It was just Problem Sleuth except nobody was allowed to actually suggest future actions (the entire draw of MSPA in its first two iterations) and eventually devolved into walls of text and fake IM conversations that have no relevance to anything.

Correct. the mouth shape of SB was specifically taken from the webcomic that was being mocked.Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff actually predates Homestuck and comes from the Penny Arcade forums, it was originally a really mean spirited vehicle to mock a staggeringly incompetent webcomic whose creator got super defensive about his lack of skills. It was just appropriated and expanded for use in HS, probably because it was too funny to keep it buried in obscurity and confined to the inaugural three strips.
I prefer the term yurifag and as a yurifag myself i hate and despise these people so much. Specially the troon yurifags.Hime is the prefix given to yuri fans, named after the Yuri Hime magazine, so you get himejoshi and himedanshi (princess girl, princess boy). You've surely heard of yaoi's fujoshi, that stands for rotten girl, and fudanshi, rotten boy. Going a bit off topic, you'd think I have an irrational hate boner for GL itself, but no, it's just the fans I despise.
Sorry for the late reply, but you can also use tumlook to browse Tumblr without an account. It sometimes shits the bed if you try to dig too deep on a particular subject, but it is good enough for casual use and checking on cows.I liked tumblr because I could punch anything into the search and it would return whatever you like. Just read the OP and all i have to say is that this manchild looks like a bootleg copy of TJ KirkIn light of Lars of the Stars' upcoming dreadfulness, here's a crosspost for the kind of psychosis we can expect from Steven Universe "adult" fanfucks.
A couple of topic-relevant crossposted items from the Malkmusian/Liebermintz thread. On top of his obsession with signaling and grandstanding about "muh autism" everywhere he goes, he has an infantile fixation with Steven Universe that would put CWC's Sonicboner to shame by comparison.
Malk's SU derangement is so severe (https://archive.ph/OzOeJ) he even made a Rambo themed Fanfic about it.

It reminded me about the times when tumblrism was contained within Tumblr itself and we could just point our fingers at them and laugh without loosing our job or getting cancelled
