Do you think there is an actual increase in Autistics or is it mostly misdiagnosis/self-diagnosis?

I strongly disagree. People who diagnose themselves with mental illness are just attention seeking faggots. Just get your shit together and do your job, whatever it is. I've had enough of "isms" and "phobias". Fucking faggots never got slapped across the face as a kid and now they act spoiled.

I've had plenty of women and sometimes men tell me shit like: "eerm, I have ADHD, I have panick attacks, I have autism", no nigga you're just a whiny ass bitch.

There's an increase of all kinds of mental disorders but self diagnosis is definitely a popular way for a bland and boring person seeking to make themselves seems special, in the negative sense of the word.

I also feel the autism label is used to mask more serious pathologies, like BPD, schizophrenia and the like, because the symptoms and behaviors can overlap with those of ADHD/autism. Untreated and/or undiagnosed schizos/psychos will claim to have autism when they're called out for egregious behavior, but really they're merely lunatics that are in need of treatment and medication.

People are becoming parents at older ages. This is causing more autism.

There's currency in having a identifiable and known disability rather than some obscure one. This is causing a rise in mis self-diagnosis.

People prefer other people to be interchangeable parts as it's easier to deal with. This is the explanation of the rise in autism-fatigue (and disability fatigue).

Not only that, but girls are menstruating earlier, women are going into menopause earlier, men are experiencing huge drops in testosterone and experiencing hair loss earlier. Our collective hormones are being altered through mass plastic use and meat pumped full of hormones. Birth control in the water supply. We're going to evolve into hideous androgenous soy sludge creatures in the next hundred or so years. It's actually so over bros.

Autism diagnosis is up because DSM V redefined the criteria needed for diagnosis vs. the DSM IV.

Under DSM IV rules, you needed more criteria to qualify, and you couldn't diagnose autism and ADD/ADHD in the same person. They were considered totally opposite disorders that were mutually incompatible. These two things combined meant that it was harder to diagnose someone under the old rules.

DSM V came out in 2013, so it's pretty recent and only something that's going to affect zoomer kids and millenial adults who went out trying to get diagnosed in their 20s.

these women will run to the doctor and post about going through numerous doctors until they get the diagnosis they want.
it's still weird that it's become almost fashionable among certain demographics.
you lack social interaction because your life consists of playing a computer game 24/7, you definitely will develop autistic like symptoms
the problem might be that our society is insane.
All our modern world is fucking our brains. Screens, social isolation, disruption to sleep patterns, drugs (legal and not.)
I really believe that social media and current culture also drives the formation of personality disorders.
what happens to children who suffer childhood neglect or have other untreated developmental disorders like ADHD during childhood.

There are more spergs.

Modern parenthood is a failed institution.
Moms and dads bring life into the world and promptly shit on it and why they do speaks to the frailty of humans.
You have an opportunity to form a being that surpasses you in every conceivable way, but you want to watch or listen to some retard talk about the conveniences and luxuries you wish you had or talk to people you want to fuck instead of worry about what is in front of you.
Autism is, by and large, a symptom of societal sickness and parents who would have been better off fostering a wasp nest.
Projecting what you wish for yourself on your children is shit.
Neglecting your children to grant yourself a convenient glimpse into a life you locked yourself out of by procreating is shit.
Using your children as a means to get the attention you crave is shit.

This is why we have more autists.

The rest are grifters and legitimate, no stopping this train (even with good parenting), autistics; the rarest being the former.

I just want to say it's suspicious that the places you find the most people denying the existence of autism are the places where they congregate the most.

Something Something microplastics maybe

diagnosed from a young age, at this point it's become an idpol talking point for TikTok sluts to cry about despite most of them not even being officially diagnosed by a doctor, most Autistic Men ive talked to aren't offended by the word Retard and enjoy Autism jokes like I do, of any protected class Autistic Men tend to have the thickest skin when it comes to humor

for sure I agree, not to go overly TMI but there's stuff like that within my family history, and while I do think Autism when actually diagnosed by a doctor is fairly accurate I do feel its probably used as an excuse for shit, especially within Education in America, in my High School shitbags were rarely punished due to insane stipulations that must of been on their IEP, needless to say one of the smartasses there ended up Trooning out after we all graduated and I wouldn't be surprised if there were drug addicts within some of my graduating class

I'm not sure. When I was a kid in Canada starting school there was almost a screening process to test intelligence and signs of Autism (or another disability) before the child was to be placed in public school. Kids that couldn't be placed went to special schools.

Special schools don't exist anymore so autistic kids go right into the class room with children that aren't Autistic so to teachers especially it seems to be a total increase and it's overwhelming.

Personally I don't think there is an actual increase. I think the places that the system used to send these kids doesn't exist anymore. Special schools, boarding schools for the disabled and institutions are all gone.

I think the amount of real artists real artists has stayed pretty steady. Just look at the train hobby for example, it has stayed at steady rate. That doesn't stop mentally ill women on Tik Tok claiming to be Autistic for likes however.

They question should be what is the most popular among artists at the current moment, are trains, planes, boats, cars or something else the top interest in the autistic community.

the early childhood education industry has seen a huge spike in early autism and not all of it is caused by actual autism. toddlers exposed to screens for excessive amounts of time will behave as if autistic without actually having autism (i.e. spinning in circles all day in class, inability to follow simple commands, non-verbal, outbursts, poor motor skills). its similar to the developed low focus older kids get from short-form content, and why childhood psychologists/pediatricians hate things like Cocomelon so much. this is made worse by parents constantly using screens and not conversing with their child or modeling good social skills, which reinforces the "autism". notice how a lot of "autistic" kids now are extremely spergy and ADHD but lack a general intelligence or alternative method of thinking (aka the good parts of functioning autism).
if a mother ever tries to make you feel bad for shaming her over giving a kid a tablet so she has the "time" to cook dinner, just remember she's literally creating a mini-CWC because she's too shitty of a parent to do what parents have done for thousands of years.

I've had non-vocal tourettes my entire life and I would say that (h3h3 of all people) underlining ticks as tourettes has done much for my mental health, even more-so now that I've no issues saying "I've got tourettes", granted I've yet to do so. But the ability to put the weirdness off by saying "biology made me this way" is quite assuring.

I can see why going "I'm weird cause I've got autism" is great for people who actually have it, but everyone else it's a blanket cover to nullify all wrongs they've done from a sound but untrained mind. Look up troons and other such folk and you'll see their bio rampant with "IM TRASH IM BAD I SHOULD DIE" as a preface to anything they say so that they can always justify criticism "well yeah I said I should kms first!"

There’s times that I think I am autistic but then I realize I probably ain’t and there’s no point labeling myself into a box.

I think most people have some degree of autism, just like all things don’t let it define you.

Bleh, my mother had me tested for autism and adhd when I was like 6.
Doctor quite literally told her I was just dumb and bored.

This shit now gets overdiagnosed because it's a money making machine for pharma and bad therapists, and the best munchie by proxy excuse for bad mothers.

its trendy to be autistic
much broader definition plus awareness
god knows what were actually exposed to in terms of diet and environment
i think all of it is true. who knows what weight each bullet point gets though

I'm thinking it's all three:
- There are people who self-diagnose because it's either cool or it's a cope to avoid addressing one's own problems, which may range from both psychological to physical, we live shitty lives and "autism" might be a manifestation of that.
- There's overdiagnosis going on because shrinks suck, diagnostic criteria sucks, the whole damn institute of psychiatry sucks.
- Less children are killed off for demon possession/left in the woods cuz a fairy snached their soul/whatever other legend people had about autistic kids back in the day when you couldn't really trace people, including newborns and mothers. We have to remember that the "sudden rise" of autistic traits actually happened around a century ago, when children's rights were started to be taken seriously, along with introduction with a more or less modern paperwork system.

That, and also who knows what our way of living is causing. Everyone's talking about elderly parents as if we aren't living in a reality that literally no human before us has ever seen, getting pumped God knows what on a daily basis through our food, medicine, electromagnetic waves of all sorts of kinds, and even basics like air and water. It doesn't matter that you're young, your balls are full of microplastic already and you were born to parents who were packed with asbestos, and their parents were getting poisoned with lead and arsenic. There's a major rise of reproductive health issues linked directly to our shit tier lifestyles and pollution levels, I don't know much about men but endometriosis and PCOS are rampant these days. These women still reproduce, and those are serious health condition that mess up said women themselves, so what might happen to their kids then?

Merging Asperger's into ASD likely contributed to that as well. I did mention this in some other post but I think aspies and actual autistics are different, despite the similarities. Differences in developing motor skills vs verbal skills between the two literally create two overall distinct groups, I don't get the point of lumping them together under the vague "autism spectrum" definition.

Merging Asperger's into ASD
My brother in christ (most unironically),

The merge into ASD isn't quite to my estimation as significant from the "overdiag" POV as the merger with ADHD.

In (the millenial teen's) DSM IV (that's 4 for you who aren't roman) had it that these two -- autism and ADHD were polar opposites caused by opposite brain chem error shit. To flip it when there is a lucrative ends seems 100% sus to me. To me then, it would be that:

a) ADHD victims of the psych system get sales for ritalin and all the others.
b) 'tism niggas based on the old rule of the DSM III in law get free shit from the government. Since the government definition of tism is next to downs in their opinion since it's so old in the legislative sense.

To this, doctors can milk money.

Now then, I'm a professional in my own capacity. And I would suspect anyone who is here either is or would be: to this, professionals are also men. We shit (not a grammar error; I say indeed: we ourselves also defecate). We also do what is more disgusting in concupiscence. That's the big fancy catholic word that really means you're being a degenerate (there's nuance to it, but I'm not here to teach religion atm). It's you falling into the black hole of your body being designed for stone age treasures, and making them into space-aged treasures...which make you stupid when they're over indulged in!

in any case, the doctor is just like you. He's a man with pleasures he would will to fulfill by his pay. He's a man like you. A slack-off, a jeet, a chink, he's any thing!

He's not really bound by a religious oath to hippocrates. He's bound by the same "oath" I have doing my own work. He's a tool for a capitalist. And I mean no offense in that term.

But in all cases, the doctor by this scheme milks money. He has the infinite bread of the state funding the infinite retardation of the plebs who he can abuse for infinite money.

Yeah, that's pretty much included in

I keep forgetting that this is a thing. Coincidentally, an American friend of mine who has been diagnosed with autism just mentioned recently that he's running out Vyvanse and now I'm wondering how does that affect his brain then.
