But 1) why Doha and 2) why now?
I'm wondering that myself. Since I'm a sucker for speculation theories I compiled some of them below in case anyone's interested, apologies if I missed any.
1. ATM run in Doha
In favor:
Everyone here is all upset over nothing. Chantal had to pop over to Doha to withdraw the cash. She'll fly right back to pay for totally not Salah's kid school. This is just an ATM run.
She can't pull money in Lebanon due to the Lebanese Pound being so fucked that the official exchange rate is 85% below the real value and it's illegal for banks to use the real exchange rate.
Against:
She could have gone to Jordan, Lebanon or Turkey.
Qatar is 1000 miles from Syria. Turkey and Lebanon are right there. Jordan is right there. Why the fuck did she fly 1000 miles to Qatar?
if it is just a visa run they could just have border hopped same as they did when they went to get her money on payday
If she wanted money, she could have gone to Lebanon or Jordan.
2. She's in the middle of traveling somewhere else
-Doha has many international flight options.
Doha airport is a major international transport hub and the hotel she's at is close to the airport (and cheap). It wouldn't surprise me if she exposed her location deliberately to give her an excuse to leave the Middle East briefly. We know that her preference would have been to go somewhere else for summer but Salah wasn't onboard. She can easily go anywhere from Doha, though (even though we know she'll return quickly because she doesn't trust Salah
There is only one reason for Chantal to be in Doha is that she is between flights.
-She's flying to Canada.
She is now in Doha and the speculation is that she is going back to Canada,
Canada? Most likely, maybe the doctor in Syria told her that her test were bad and she needs to see someone soon. If Chantal is still in Doha for the next few days, I am not sure what to make of it, but my bet is that she will be in Canada is a couple of days.
"I'm in Canada... I mean from Canada... I'm in the Middle East right now"
This disgusting, selfish lard arse would have waited for the donations to land in PayPal and within a couple of days she is getting out of Syria, a nice stay over in a comfortable hotel where she can gorge on fast food and an onward flight to Canada.
-She's flying to Malaysia.
In favor:
I wouldn't be surprised if she showed up in Malaysia soon. It seems like the only reason they're not going there is because Salah refused. Cutie doesn't take well to being told "no", especially by her fake daddy husband. I think there's direct flights from Doha to Malaysia but not from Syria to Malaysia.
Against:
Malaysia? Absolutely not. She has not been there and if Salah is not going, she is not going.
-She's flying to Thailand
Thailand? Perhaps. She will go to the same hotel, and do everything she did before. She will beeze, eating 7-11 food, and crank up the AC to 11.
3. Doha is familiar to her.
Why Doha?
- She's been to Doha several times before, especially the airport.
- She's already done a visa run there.
- It was only a short, cheap direct flight away from Damascus on her favorite airline, Qatar Airways.
- Lots of English speakers.
- Talabat.
- It's a familiar Gulf country with all of the amenities she knows she wants.
- She's a creature of habit.
Basically, she went to Doha for the same reason that she went back to that same hotel in Thailand in 2024. It's familiar. I wouldn't be surprised if she's in the exact same hotel that she has stayed in previously.
4. It's one of many trips to come.
I think she'll return to Syria but do more frequent trips away. There's no way she's going to let Salah out of her clutches in the foreseeable future and he's too spineless to kick her to the kerb. This could continue for years, and as long as he has access to her money and she can escape frequently they will both continue to tolerate it.
5. It wasn't a planned trip
And given how much she was loying that first stream (Salah is there, Julia is with friends/family, she didn't use the kid money), I don't think this was a planned trip.
6. She's waiting for the family house to get ready (what Chantal wants us to believe)
Against:
- The family home doesn't exist
I suspect the "family home" that Chantal speaks of does not exist.
- It's a shack
If it does exist, it probably be a shack on a dirt road. And the family that had to move out are a couple of goats and chickens.
