I did read she brought weighted gloves and I wanted to comment. Because that seems pretty stupid to bring to a fist fight, have you not heard of inertia? Dude's got height on you for sure so he's already wound up and swinging before you're even close enough in range to connect your fist at the best of times, but with weighted gloves, by the time youre trying to pull your arm back then throw your punch, you've already got a fist in your jaw; right?

Also it turns it from a simple assault into a felony. Possibly ADW. That's assuming the bottle didn't already do that. If they really were weighted gloves as defined by law, those are illegal in Commiefornia. Even if they aren't specifically illegal, using them while committing a crime probably jacks up the potential crime. It also makes the guy punching her out pretty clear self-defense. You don't have to let someone just punch you, but you definitely don't have to let someone assault you with a weapon, even in the People's Republic of California.
