Really all he did was take the swing beat out of “proudly” in “What so proudly we hail’d,” and “ramparts” in “O’er the ramparts we watch’d.” Also, the verses don’t seem like they’re resolving in the tonic as us typically done. So while he’s correct in that the changes he made were minor, they’re off enough and take a lot of personality out of the arrangement.
