I would say Trump is one of the many cases of "The Left, Left Me" many of his stances back in the 70's and 80's were mainline and accepted by both sides but the left was easier to influence back in the day with donations and money (which he admits to paying off politians before) and was also seen in pop-media as "the cool side to be on" Look at how revereded Bill was as the "cool president" in all of media during that time and even into the 2000s (Family Guy, Simpsons, radio shows like Howard Stern, movies, etc... big pop-culture media rewarded you for siding with the democrats).
At a point the Democrats were not satisfied with this and combined with the idea of "end of history and God is dead" nihilism they wanted to change things to change things. To be remembered in history as the good guys they see in fiction and to have a legacy without trying, (collective Legacy). So they started courting the Progressives (a better name than "The Changers / Scared to die without a legacy people"). And started picking up whatever cause they could be on the "right side of history on" or they could "be/side with a victim" (victimhood and overcoming that is a surefire way to get a legacy be in the history books. Everyone wants to be MLK essentially).
This lead them to Extremist Environmentalism, (Global Warming, Global cooling, Save the bees, Acid Rain, Oil disappearing, Save the Tree, Save the rainforest, Save the Whales, White people should not breed, etc...), Extreme Gay rights (Privacy of bedroom --> Your kids are not yours but ours and we demand access to them to groom them), Abortion (went from rare + safe and became Free Abortion Vans outside the DNC), Wellfare programs (From Mental Hospitals and Retarded/Elderly Care --> Assisted Suicide and Mandated hiring of minorities).
Many of these things started out with a decent if not understandable idea that most people could in theory, get behind or understand and morphed into extremist practices they have become today. Now why did they become so extreme. It is mainly because of the things I talked about in the post you replied to with the addition of:
Main character syndrome, lack of God / something to aspire to, pop-media's constant praise of whatever their causes are, disposable inherited money/means to throw at causes, an extreme mental susptibility to feel guilty or empathy to the outsider.
Maybe I should make a thread about my concepts and be more detailed but a tldr for Trump not being a democrat in disguise as you said is:
- Left, left him behind
- Left has attempted to kill, imprison and destroy him and his family. (a very good reason to not be one).
- His views are considered right wing.
- Unlike other Leftists pretending to be Republicans (cough "John McCain") He actually does promised right-leaning actions, passes right leaning laws and moves the overton window towards the right.
- His "Old Left" leaning ideas have been ironed out through backlash and actually listening and responding to his base. One example of his ""Old Left"" ideas was the Bump-Stock Ban.
Tldr:
If you actually think Donny is a liberal "now / in the present day" you are genuinely retarded. If you said it before in the thread no one listened because again, it is retarded.
