I'll disagree on this. I mean, maybe Gabe is that dumb, I won't fully rule it out. However, a short video would be significantly better to get a project like this off the ground. Hell, just use the Turkey Tom vid from last year, and then a second one with a fast 5 minute lore dump of stuff since then. Ideally under 10 minutes "highlight, best of" is how you do a pitch video. A 5 hour struggle session with Kanoo isn't going to sell anything. Just from the clip lengths, this was going to be a slog Gabe had planned.

Also, Gabe's a money guy. Why would he need more money (for this project)? This hypothetical project isn't going to be another Blackfish, make it for six figures and call it a day.

One thing that I appreciate that Gabe emphasized (that many still don’t get) is that Rekieta was never an experienced attorney, and he had no business giving out legal advice or legal opinions (either back during the genesis of Lawtube or during his trial streams now).

He was able to get away with it in the early days of streaming by focusing alot of the time on things where experience didn't matter as much. He had almost no experience, but he did know the things he had been taught in school. He could competently do basic analysis of the paperwork in most cases. He also had confidence and could carry himself well in presenting himself as experienced.

The other thing that helped him was that YT legal analysis was new and the standards were rather low. He could also be entertaining about these things with the audience he had without having tremendous legal knowledge.

I personally was able to see through his act at moments where he made basic mistakes that an experienced attorney wouldn't make. He talked about "pro hac vice" once and got just about everything with regard to admitting attorneys into a different jurisdiction wrong. Then it became a pattern that made it clear that whatever Nick had done, he had rarely if ever been in a courtroom.

If he had stayed careful about remaining inside his wheelhouse of knowledge and avoided offering opinions that were in areas beyond his knowledge or experience, he could kind of get away with it. Especially when he started covering things with a whole bunch of different people who had more experience than he did and could fill in his gaps. Because honestly Nick going through the written material even with his level of experience and explaining things to a non-legal audience was actually not all that bad a thing. And combing that with entertainment and political commentary isn't a bad format for a show as long as Nick was honest about the limits of his experience (of course he wasn't).
