As someone who followed the Sophie Long case....

Let me make this perfectly clear: There exists a 15+ min video of Sophie SCREAMING in terror about going back to her mother. The Internet entirely split on the matter. It was insanity. That video is VERY hard to find because Kelly (Sophie's mom) got it scrubbed. She threatened law suits everywhere. Katie from Without A Crystal Ball (if you know you know) was all over it. She deleted all her vids.

I am usually a pretty opinionated person on these issues but could not decide on the matter. Over time, I've decided that BOTH parents were toxic. Michael Long was caught in Mexico with a lot of drugs, and Sophie. Not okay.

Hoffman got so much shit wrong about that case that it actually made me angry listening to him pontificate about how Nick owes the mom an apology. If the mom's boyfriend did nothing wrong, why was he later arrested for DV and violence against a child? Are we completely disregarding Sophie's testimony and that utterly horrific video of her fighting not to go back to her mother that was scrubbed from social media? Isn't your big thing bringing light to child abuse, my guy?

I do think Nick's previous support of Michael Long is interesting to bring up, though, since he's now trying to paint Elissa as a monster for "supporting a child abductor" when he himself platformed the same abductor and took his side. What the fuck was Gabe thinking, she was going to run a 5 hour audio-visual documentary style presentation for him, lead an interview about a fairly sobering subject and competently manage the audience?! Has he never seen her show even once?

What I expected was, they’d do half an hour, maybe an hour of banter and build up, and then the floor would be given to Gabe for 20 minutes to do an explanation and drop of what he’d found out and why it was bad, with keanu nodding along and reacting. Then read a few superchats and Gabe could get the fuck out of there.

That could have worked! Even though the info was thin, that would have been a win for both of them.

It’s clear that he shopped this around various other shows - legal mindset said as much, it’s quite possible Meme Copium and KC said no thanks too, if that was the format he was asking for.
