As for why they insisted on recording a video and not just audio - I don’t know. My only guess is since they have stopped doing the public podcast the only source of active income (and not Ian’s declining passive income) they have is their Patreon. Maybe they thought not filming a video would make less people listen and possibly unsub? They have to keep doing this weekly now to keep their Patreon afloat.
