I think I recall Karl revealing just how much he gets from sponsors at least once, ironically (or not) in a video about Billy, wherein Billy claims that Karl's whole schtick is basically just making money from his videos accusing Billy of all sorts of shit. This is hilarious in hindsight, because it is completely true to an extent that nobody in Karl's audience even conceived of before the judgement. Anyway, from the numbers about sponsors provided by Karl in that video, and going by the average rate of $/views on youtube, you could probably roughly estimate just how much Karl makes, and how long it would take to pay Billy back.

edit: He also has 565 members on his patreon. No idea how much that is because it's hidden. You could go with the average patreon donation to factor it in.

Karl mentioned making more than 5k from mobile game ads (up to 15k In this instance).

He also showed how much he made from his WATA Games video when he responded to that collector guy.

That collector video came out on September 18, 2022 (so this clip used in the video was probably taken by Karl a few days before that depending on how long it took him to edit the video).

Either way, we can use wayback to see how many views the WATA games video had. I’m using one from August 23, 2022 (a few weeks before the collector video game out) and September 2022.


So for a video ranging from 1,733,561 views to 1,780,032 views, Karl was making $13,608.46 from Youtube. Then add up the amount he makes from sponsors, then he was making a minimum of $18,608.46 (if he only got 5k from his sponsor) and as high as $28,608.46.

Considering that Karl mentioned that mobile game sponsors pay a lot more (and he does a ton if mobile game sponsors), I’d assume it’d be more towards the maximum.

In that collector video and in the video where he talked about Billy speaking at NERG (where Billy accurately stated that he makes about 30k from videos), Karl undersold how much he made off videos to get sympathy points, saying things like “I wish I made that much” (nothing new from Karl cause he constantly plays the victim to garner support).

To be clear, LUS in this video seems to be claiming or implying Karl owes Billy $1.8M. He does not owe him that amount of money, but this seems to be how much money has been put into this case by Karl and his supporters when you combine the judgment with interest, his legal fees, Billy's lawyer fees, etc. if Karl is to be believed here.

I've seen a lot of these clips, they should be edited together into a PSA for anybody considering speedrunning. During periods of disillusionment they rant with such clarity despite carrying on anyway. Many of them seem to view their bleak situation in a humored and ironic fashion, content with their wasted lives.

I think there was a comment somewhere comparing speedrunners to the scene from Pulse where the computer gets hijacked with a message saying "Do you want to meet a ghost?" followed by live feeds of depressed people rotting away in front of their computer screens.

It would be stranger if a few hadn't dropped him, but this $1.8 million dollar footbullet doesn't really seem like a dealbreaker from a sponsorship perspective. Correct. MAME draws the levels in large chunks, whereas original arcade hardware will render the levels iin smaller pieces from one side of the screen to the other. Testing of MAME versus recording of original arcade hardware is extremely extremely consistent on this.

is there actual proof that an original Donkey Kong arcade board was tested against the Billy Mitchell footage? it is possible that they tested using a reproduction arcade board and maybe thats the reason the "original arcade hardware" loaded its stages differently. afterall, even though the Donkey Kong is a little bit popular arcade, its old and there are more repro arcade boards circulating than real Nintendo arcade boards. was there tests done with all the revisions of the arcade board? there are 4 Donkey Kong boards. there might be a diffeent way each arcade board revision load its stages.
