If you're on probation and subject to piss tests its very common for them to look at the levels and determine if they are at the level that is in accordance with your prescription. If you're prescribed 3 pills of something per day but your urine shows you have levels that correspond to 20 pills based on your weight, they will ding you on it. I have seen people get this done to them.

I guess it varies a lot, but two years ago when I was coming off roughly 20 beers and a gram of coke a day addiction, they sent me on my way after a week in the hospital with a 30 day script of Gabapentin and some well wishes. I guess maybe if I'd have gone looking for a doctor that didn't give a fuck it could have been different, but just my anecdotal same habits they gave me 0 things that would produce any kind of head buzz
